@AuntG

our meds are mail order and all come via usps. not sure petty thieves would want to risk federal mail charges if they got caught or traced down. i don't think big time criminals are as much into maybe coming up a $5 cat toy. sounds and smells like they are living close by.

I had my first problem ever with the USPS.  I had a return and I took it to the post office and put it where they said to put pre-paid postage boxes and it disappeared from inside the post office.  There was a man there just kind of looking at all the pre-paid boxes - that kind of makes me wonder.

@DiAnne

i always stand in line, hand it to the postal worker, and get a receipt for the pre-paid package.

Who let the bad guys into a gated community?

The people who work for the landscape company - the utilities employees - idiots giving out the codes to plumbers , appliance repairmen, and every other Tom, *ick and Harry who does work on their home, empolyees of all the vendors who do maintainence work like painters, pool guys, housekeepers, HVAC guys Fireman, policeman and paramedics.UPS & other delivery companies. The Schwans Man. Probably hundreds of people have codes to open those gates. My housekeeper has a code , I bet a lot of housekeepers here have the code. Any idea that those gates actually are protecting anyone is pure fantasy.

People seem to like the idea of telling other people that they live in a gated community.

In Florida all newer communities are gated. People seem to want this so it is done everywhere. Personally, I hate that stupid gate. It keeps getting hit by lightening and the repairs are costly. Most HOAs eventually get sick of paying to keep the gate operating and just leave them open 24/7.

It seems like your gates haven't done a good job for you at all. What do your neighbors think?

I purchased a Perlier gift set from HSN to use as a Christmas gift. It arrived via UPS and was left at the door as we weren't home. This morning DH found it out there, by the garage door, and it was open and EMPTY. Called HSN - replacement is on the way. However, I am led to wonder who that lives here in my gated community relieved me of the contents of my package?I will have to go around sniffing everyone at the Christmas party to see if I detect the scent of honey lemon.

@151949  I'm not following your timeline????

If the package was delivered while you were not home, didn't you see it when you got back home??  DId it take the next morning to see it???

I'm surprised the package was not taken completely.  Thieves grab and go and don't take the time to open to see if it something they want.  It's pot luck so to speak.

You might consider tracking your package next time.

I'm not OP....just want to say that i do not use my front door...UPS..Fed Ex just drop and run...could be front door...back door...or at another neighbors house...geez..

My point is...if they leave something and not ring the bell or knock...I don't know its out there...i have had items sit out overnight because of this...

Yes, I do check tracking...but we all know that is inconsistent these days...and many times there is no tracking number to check...

@circles  I disagree with you because in my experience there is always a tracking number and USPS especially lists the day the package is out for delivery.   I always receive emails that my order is being processed, emails when it is shipped with a tracking number from several places I shop.

I simply asked @151949 a question..

If her package was already taken from her front door they would have seen it at the garage since they arrived home at night-lights on the car.

I know when a package is coming and even if I didn't I would periodically check my front door.

But then again I'm a logical person.

Who would have though a crook could live in a seniors' gated community?   Perhaps the perp scaled your razor wire fence around the Community?
