I recorded Mary Beth Roe's last QVC show and just finished watching it. I found myself sobbing along with her when they showed the video clips of her co-hosts breaking down as they attempted to record their goodbye messages to her. They truly love her and it showed in their inability to articulate their sentiments without getting emotional. I'm so glad that QVC didn't edit out their tears and outtakes because it was their raw human emotion and not a polished video clip that helps us to understand how treasured Mary Beth Roe is to so many people.
It is obvious that she was so much more than just a co-worker or host trainer to many of them, just as she was more than a just a salesperson to many of us shoppers. Mary Beth was a constant presence in our lives for over three decades. Whether you purchase items regularly or just tune in to QVC for "company" and companionship, seeing the long-time hosts on our tv screens each day can be a comfort in these turbulent times.
When I heard about her retirement announcement many months ago, I was a bit saddened, but it didn't faze me too much at the time. However, I found myself getting quite emotional as she made her QVC exit tonight. It feels like the end of an era.
Our time on this planet is so limited and the only thing we truly leave behind is our legacy - how we made people feel, not the stuff we obtained while we were alive.
Seeing so many people honor Mary Beth with such kind words and tributes was truly moving. That kind of reputation takes decades to build and it inspires me to spread more kindness, compassion, and optimism each day.
I hope that Mary Beth Roe has many, many years of good health ahead of her so that she can relish in her new-found freedom.

From your beautiful tribute to MBR, I think your words and insights show that you already practice those virtues you attributed to her:
Kindness, Compassion and Optimism.

I felt that she was ready to retire and completely satisfied with her decision. That is so much easier than a forced retirement or a decision not wanting to be made. There was a sense of peace among the tears and well wishes. She is so fortunate to have such endearing friends and fans. I am happy for her as many are.
I wish there were more hosts who are so respected and honest. She was professional and knew her craft, thus did training. I still have her Family Cookbook from the 80s given to me by my Aunt who really liked her.

@Luv2Watch One of the best written posts I've read on these boards. You've articulated, so beautifully, many things I was thinking (and tearful over), while watching all these tributes to MBR, last night & over this past month.
I mean, we all knew she was respected, thought of highly at the Q for the job she did...but the personal feelings toward her by so many collegues?...truly amazing to me, that someone, on their job, elicited so many genuine, deep feelings and friendships. Quite the legacy. Food for thought for all of us, what we put out into the world.
Truly an "end of an era"...I thought of my dear mom last night too, who no longer is here but started me on "this Q thing!" in 2000. Time goes by...things pass...make the most of today.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful post.

Very nice final show, she handled it like a real professional to the end, I'll miss seeing her on my televison screen after 35+ years.

thank you for your post! It hit me too last night in a way I didn't expect. I think for me it was how time marches on and the end of an era aspect too. I didn't see alot of Mary Beth the last few years since I do most of my shopping online now. But I felt a sense of sadness last night that we may not see another host like her again.

Mary Beth is a lovely woman who lives her faith and isn't afraid to show it. I think QVC was a lucky company to have her as an employee. I wish her all the best.
