@Venezia  I'm delivered lol. My nephew and I went for our walk and it worked.

I had my phone on airplane mode to avoid the noise.

I figured after getting my vaccine yesterday and the chip activation to day I'd at least feel the nub of the third arm I'm supposed to be growing. How will I ever be able to wear all my rings? I did nap tocay so maybe I DID become a zombie.

@Zwervend you cannot turn off presidential alerts and that's what this came through as.

Hmmm. Well, if that's supposed to be impressive, it's not.

DH and I both had our cell phones on.  His blared away and he got a voice notification that I could hear from two rooms away.

Mine?  All I got was a text notification with the same info his phone was blaring out.  Not a sound.

My understanding is there are several reasons this new test alert does not come through, some of those are: we enabled airplane mode; or we might be out of range of cell towers or the signal was weak; or we use a smaller cell provider that has opted out of the testing process; and some older phones and/or software are not compatible.  Also, the test alerts are not configured to sound an interruption if we're currently talking on the phone.   This was the first test of a new system to understand how it can work, it will have to evolve from what was learned from the testing, and when I think of the complexity involved it's not hard to see it will take time for it to be more widely adopted.  I'm glad it's being done, and I'd rather see it tested and improved sooner than later. 😊

@dooBdoo - None of those things apply in my case.  DH and I have the exact same phone, same provider.  Neither of us was talking on our phones, when the alert was issued.

I told him I'll look at the settings we each have to see where or if anything is different.  (Neither of us has airplane mode on.)

It's a head scratcher, for sure, @Venezia.  I'm still reading articles about it along with ongoing commentary in a tech group of some of my friends and former co-workers , and they are updating as they learn more.  Thanks for your post.😊

My alert came over my cell phone at 2:18 pm.  That was it.  It didn't come over any other devices I own like our news media warned us about.  And it was no more alarming than when we receive an Amber Alert notification.  I think our news media, here anyway, did overkill on it.  No disruption in our lives and the sky didn't fall.  But they did talk about it, ad nauseam, for days prior to The Big Event.  😁

Thank goodness we got a head's up on that one.  That was good of them.
