Anyone else having trouble sending emails with Yahoo? I can receive them just fine but when I send it fails & says “username and/or password is incorrect.” Hadn’t changed the username or password in months & was able to email earlier yesterday. Of course since this we’ve tried to change password & it won’t allow us to “recover” our account online.
I know Verizon was getting out of the email business but mine was through Yahoo so I was never told to change. And it works fine for receiving emails- just can’t send any. Help!

I’m having the same problem this morning. I can send emails if I sign in to Yahoo thru their website, but not on my iPad or iPhone. My passwords and user ID are up to date. Hopefully it’s a short term glitch on their part. I can migrate everything to a gmail account, but that would be a pain.
Edited to add: according to downdetector.com, it is a wide spread problem.

I find the Verizon/Yahoo email system to be a tad glitchy on occasion. By the way, it pays to check your spam folder at yahoo.com on a routine basis. Their spam filter is really vague and tends to block lots of good stuff in addition to spam. You don't know it's being blocked unless you access your account directly from yahoo.com and check the spam folder. No matter how many times you notify them that certain e-mails aren't spam, they still will toss them into the spam folder.
Back to the original problem, I've had Yahoo lock me out of my e-mail account through alternate e-mail programs for several days when it's decided my password is incorrect. Then a few days later it'll suddenly decide my password is fine and let me back in. Most of the time if I go directly to yahoo.com and use my password there instead of downloading the e-mails to another program the password works fine. There seems to be a fairly routine communication breakdown between Yahoo and the other e-mail programs where those programs won't recognize your password. Now a cynic might think that maybe, just maybe Yahoo is trying to drive more business to their portal by forcing Verizon/Yahoo customers to go there to access their e-mails, giving their portal more hits, but I'm sure (sarcasm intended) it's just a glitch and not a move to drive web site visits. Likewise I'm sure their spam filter's failure to recognize good e-mails from spam, forcing you to go to their site to sort through the pile manually is just a glitch and not a ploy to get you to visit their site. No, it would be wrong to manipulate customers in such a fashion.
I've been switching my e-mailing over to a g-mail account and will eventually close out my old Verizon/Yahoo account simply because of the headaches they cause and the manipulation they employ.

I tried going to Yahoo homepage (on iPad) but couldn’t even get signed in. Same problem with username/password. Couldn’t reset them from there either. Glad to know I’m not the only one having a problem. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. I seldom checked the spam/junk folder but not too long ago I did & found a couple important emails from people in my address book. I had no idea why they would go to junk folder. Now I try to check it regularly.
After reading your post I think I’ll start using my gmail account more & phase out the Verizon as well.

I just logged into my Verizon account & was able to send an email from verizon’s Homepage. Odd that it doesn’t work from my email account on iPad or from Yahoo’s homepage but the Verizon link to yahoo mail worked. Thanks to the tips provided here.
And I also found that my AT&T cellphone bill was mysteriously located in the spam/junk folder. I’ve been getting that email to my inbox for years. Perhaps they changed something in their email address?

AT&T is my provider and our email is powered by yahoo. Im having problems this morning also. They must be having issues.

I’ve gradually been migrating my emails away from Yahoo to another account too. I’ve used Yahoo for eons so it’s a slow process. That last gigantic hack was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. I was hoping things would improve with the Verizon takeover, but things seem to be slow-going with that. I think Verizon found out after the fact that Yahoo was even more screwed up than what they thought originally.
The thing is, any of these big email providers can and do have problems. So I may decide to keep things going to different accounts. I don’t necessarily like the idea of having everything stuck in one place in case of more big hacks, which are possible with any company anymore.

It’s working fine for me now, so hopefully the issue has been resolved.
