If I get a text message on my phone from my daughter, I get an audio notification. I know right away to look. I set my notification as the Sherwood Forest short music notes, I love it.

I refuse to consider myself a dinasaur because I like to get all my thoughts down in written communication. Otherwise I actually prefer voice communication. That probabkly makes me a dinasaur too, lol
IMO the texting, snapchat, etc... is making us lose our communication skills.

Deb, text messaging isn't meant for long thoughtful communication. It's exchanging quick notification, ideas and questions. It can go back and forth but it's a shorter way of communicating.
Most people don't check email every few minutes or even hours. Texting is usually immediate.

My friends two daughters call their mother everyday and so does her granddaughter. We also still send thank you cards by snail mail.

What about senior citizens? I cannot afford to have a cell phone that texts, so I have to use email or PM on facebook. If you're sending to a group, how can you PM on FB? Therefore. I have to email.
