Anyone have much luck with the rice trick?

Latest victim . . . son's Ipod Touch. Left it sitting in the living room on the end table on top of a t-shirt with a towel from the bathroom on top of that. I was gathering laundry and just grabbed the pile and in it went.

Needless to say, he is not happy with me. Oh well. It survived a trip to the grocery store on the BUMPER of my Expedition . . .thank goodness for the rubber on top of the bumper and the rubber "case" or it surely would have slid off.

HE washed his phone about 2-3 weeks ago. Husband was able to save his phone after some time in the rice and a little electrical engineering magic.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh 14 year old boys. He did pay for it with his own money. I do feel guilty but then I don't feel like I should have to examine and feel the pockets of each item of laundry in this household cuz with 4 people I do a LOT of laundry. I even announced as I was gathering stuff this a.m. WHERE IS YOUR PHONE . . . never even thought about his I-touch.

I guess we'll leave it in the rice for a week and then check on it. I was thinking of aiming my desk OTT lamp on the container with the rice and Ipod to add some warmth to speed up the drying process and hopefully guard against corrosion. My nephew in TX dropped his in the LAKE and after an afternoon spent diving for it finallly found it on the last dive and it survived that so we'll keep our fingers crossed.
