Especially since they have so many options now about how to obtain supply.  Right.

My city was smart and has its own utility. If you are in southern CA and have Edison they have a terrible reputation for rates.

Despite the horrible 105-114 heat wave in early September my bill was only $25 higher than last year.

I believe natural gas prices have gone up more than electric.

I don't cook after 4 or wash clothes. I unplug everything, except refrig, tv, and washer, dryer.  I don't charge anything between those times, no microwave usuage, flameless candles.  Now it's getting darker earlier.

I live alone, so can do this and elderly.  Cold mornings, I put on a couple of sweaters. No outside porch light on.  I really have cut back a lot and it's still high for me.  I live in Cal.

Everything has gone up.  I'm not into nickel and diming things I have no control.over.  I'm sure our electricity bill has gone up but I don't know by how much, I just pay it.

A couple of months ago our electric company got approved for a 40% rate increase.  Gone are our days of low utility bills as our gas provider also got a 50% rate increase approved.

Last month after the increase our bill was $90 (normally $50 or less).  I know to many that is very low. However we have a very, very small home. The only appliance in our home using high amounts of electricity is our dryer and I hang dry our clothing outside whenever I can.

I know there was at least one utillity here with a rate increase.  I need to check out what is going on with gas and electric.  Water still remains status quo.  I think gas is going way up.  I'll find out soon since I have gas heat.

Why would anyone make any assumptions over my statement?

I stated a fact. Gas pumps need electricity to work.

My brother lived on an island in the Caribbean when it was hit by a hurricane and all the electric power went out. He hauled his generator to the gas station so that people could get gas from the pumps.

My community had "Be Kind" banners on the street lights in the boulevards.

Mine went down because the weather got better. I feel bad for people who live in expensive states if they can't afford the bills there. It must be so stressful for them month to month.

I did the whole summer w/o a/c and my bill for gas/elec ran btwn $80 and $85.     That seemed normal, at this point, but I don't know if increases are planned.  ISTR having received an email that they were looking to get an increase.  I guess it has to go through some sort of committe or something.
