Haven't read all the replies but if low/no emmissions is a reason for the EV craze, there's more than one answer. I've been thinking for years that a solution is to change how people work. Make it so people commute to work 3 days a week and work from home the other 2 or vice versa. Not only would this help with emissions but traffic congestion, stress levels from commuting, etc. People were able to work from home during covid and the air cleared so why not now?

It also makes me wonder how the people who promote use of EVs knowing that slave labor and child labor is used to mine the elements needed to produce them are any different from the folks who defended slavery in the past because it was "needed" to pick cotton and maintain plantations.  Or the people who decry coal mines but defend lithium mines which also apparently abase the workers and hurt the environment.

Just saying.  Virtue signaling is so interesting in what it's willing to ignore.

Hi @Isobel Archer

I am against child and slave labor.

Federal law forbids all minors from working in jobs deemed hazardous, including those in manufacturing, roofing, meatpacking and demolition.  Section 307 of the Tariff Act of 1930 (19 U.S.C. §1307) prohibits importing any product that was mined, produced, or manufactured wholly or in part by forced labor, including forced or indentured child labor. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enforces the prohibition.

I support the enforcement of these laws.

@NYCLatinaMe  I'm sure everyone here is against child and slave labor.

However it is naive to think laws and regulations are enforced 100%.

Whether mined or manufactured etc. here or elsewhere.

Thanks @Cakers3 I know.  Someone asked what my opinion was on these issues, so I answered.

However you seem to be willing to ignore those issues when they impead the agenda.

I charge mine outside in my driveway overnight.  Works wonderful.

I haven't heard of people stealing cords around here.  However, they are definitely targetting the power and telephone lines along the roads.
