We only got 95% totality here in northern KY.  It got really dark inside the house and outside it was like dusk.  The temperature dropped by at least 12 degrees and it was cool.  It was awesome!  Many from our area went to Hopkinsville, KY where there was a total eclipse.  I did watch CBS as the eclipse happened in Jackson Hole, WY.  It was indeed awesome!

@KentuckyWoman, we got up early and drove a couple of hours to a family farm just outside of Henderson, Ky.  So we got to see the whole shabang!  It got totally dark and we were surrounded by a 360 degree sunset.  The farm in that area is fairly flat and open so it was something to see.

The birds stopped chirping and the tree frogs were going crazy.  lol   No cattle on this farm at this time so we couldn't say whether the cows were heading toward a barn.  lol

So glad we got to see it!

Re: Eclipse- did anyone experience first hand?

yep.  On campus.  Students and staff were all over the place in front of the library.  They had extra glasses.  I also made a box I could view  it.  It was great.  It didn't get dark.  That would have been so cool.  But I loved seeing the sun an orange color.  I think some of the animals were a little confused.  It did get a little dark.  The squirrels certainly looked confused.

Partial here, got a bit darker like overcast dark.  Still cool to look at.  Was at lunch at the start of it.  Bought a lottery ticket during the eclipse.  Can't hurt, might help.  Hope everyone had fun with it today.

Re: Eclipse- did anyone experience first hand?

I am envious of those of you that got to see the eclipse, whether total or partial.

We were supposed to get 80% but the cloud cover was so intense that the sun was totally obstructed. The clouds didn't part until about 3pm today.

I have seen a few partial eclipses but never up to 80%. So bummed. . .

I used the cereal box viewer and I could tell when it started, the sun was not as bright and the temperature did drop. My next door neighbors got a kick out of viewing the image at the bottom of the box!

Surprised how many students knew the lyrics. Didn't see anyone with tin foil hats, but evening classes cancelled due to power outage in some of our buildings...... I know

Re: Eclipse- did anyone experience first hand?

I saw it in Waterloo, SC after driving over 9 hours to get there.  It was awesome, was nearly on the center line of totality, 2 minutes 37 seconds of totality.  I heard and saw an owl during the darkness, saw the corona all around the sun, and saw the diamond ring effect for that short moment as the moon is closing in on the sun.

Re: Eclipse- did anyone experience first hand?

Here on Eastern Shore of Md we got 80% but I didn't have the glasses. Took a look with my sunglasses through a thin veil of clouds and it was amazing. Didnt look too long, just enough to remember it! Didnt get dark, just weirdly dim.
