@MalteseMomma

I was so happy when I found my talk radio station on the DOT thru Tunein.  I always listen to talk radio until I fall asleep at bedtime.

You can also set a "sleep" timer on the DOT so it will shut off at a specific time.

I also tested the "alarm" last night.  It worked but next time I need to remember to set the volume way up as well change the alarm sound to something else.  I can sleep through a nuclear bomb. Smiley Tongue

Your welcome @Moonchilde

As a prime member too, I just say, "Alexa shuffle so and so music-and she does-if I'm not fond of a tune, I just say skip-

I seriously listened to one artist the other night for hours and never repeated a song-

I've always purchased from iTunes - but after my last upgrade on my phone I lost all my music-finally got it all back-but iTunes was so goofed up I just gave it up-

You'll love it-

I hear ya, @silentgirl. I have a good-sized iTunes library but  half my music won't play after a glitch with that has to do with copyright, an iOS update, and the iTunes on my PC. And I almost never boot up my laptop any more, so haven't been listening to much music :-(  So Alexa/Dot might be just the thing for me. Getting lazier in my stubborn old age!

Down the road apiece, I wouldn't rule out Google Assistant as it gets better and the price drops. Dueling AIs, lol.

Thanks for mentioning this, @Mz iMac. The way our house sits halfway up a hill, we get sucky wifi and cell reception, or reception of any kind. My clock radio just does NOT wake me up (half the time the power at the station dips & so does the volume), and I am hoping Dot will be my answer. If she is, I can give the radio a new home.

Well...kwap. Now that a gazillion of us have just bought them, Amazon has dropped the price to 39.99 again as a special. Doesn't bother me a lot, but does bother me some, I must admit. Sigh

@Mz iMac  I just wanted to let you know that you need to set the alarm volume up from the app.  That way you can leave your dot volume the same and only turn up the alarm volume.  You go to Settings, Select your echo (whatever you named it), Sounds and Notifications and your alarm/timer volume will be there.

@mima  I found it!  ThankYou-smiley.gif

I was up till 3:00am playing around w/my settings trying to customize.  I must have blinked too fast cause somehow I missed that blue volume slider for the alarms & timers.

 This morning I discovered Tunin has police scanners.  I connected to the one in Philly.  Good grief!  Now I won't get any sleep between talk radio & Philly police scanner. Smiley Surprised

I'm in business now!!! Smiley LOL

Loved my delivery experience. UPS entered "Out for delivery" at 8:45 a.m. on Monday the 12th. It never came. Today it was Out for Delivery at 8:45 and the 12th entry has been deleted. Estimated latest delivery time was 6:45 pm and it arrived at 9 pm. - after having apparently sat on the truck all night because someone couldn't quite get it here Monday. UPS had notified Amazon, and Amazon's message to me was "let us know if you don't get it by Friday." WT*? It was coming via Prime Shipping and actually took 4 days to arrive after shipping.

Yes, I could ask Amazon for a credit, but...meh.

It arrived in a dirty, torn, stomped-looking ratty smallish ordinary bubble envelope, with no further protection except the small fairly flimsy box it comes in. Sheesh.
