QVC does not have a new CEO. The man who has been in charge for years is still in charge, though their domestic operations chief left last September and has largely, it seems, been 'replaced' by an internal shuffling and reassignment of duties. There might or might not be some actual new blood in the corner offices, but pretty clearly, huge strides have not been made toward reinventing a somewhat stale operation.

There are lots of things I think we'd all like to see QVC do in the way of incentives (real sales, real clearance, a truly better shipping policy, etc.) but for now, they seem intent on smoke and mirrors and more available Easy Pay.

I totally agree with the 'smoke and mirrors' idea. That is exactly what the reduced shipping charges became. You notice they always want you to order several of any given item, because now, when you do, you are paying more shipping than when you ordered multiples in the old shipping rate system. Make you think you are getting cheap shipping, but not really so much.

I always liked easy pay. (Now i call it evil pay. lol). Because if you do it too much well of course it adds up each month and the bill keeps coming month after month!

I  have not been shopping much on Q but when I do, yes I use easy pay but I LIMIT it!

Now what I would prefer rather than 3 easy pays is, less expensive pricing! There are still some deals on QVC, I cant deny that. But their overall pricing has gone through the roof, specifically on clothing.

Some will probably smirk at this. But for instance- Susan Gravers tops, are way over priced. I ordered Jacqueline Smiths pieces online from Kmart, and they are the same material as Gravers, Casual dressy tops for 9,99 to 15 dollars on sale. I have gotten many compliments on my J Smith pieces! And they wash up well and hold up.

Just b/c a name is on clothing it doesn't make them better. Another instance is Logo tops. They're overlapping t shirts for heavens sake. I can find those at Boscovs for less than half the price.

But that's me, I don't work, so I'm not paying 50 dollars for tops to go to Dr appts, out to dinner w my DH, and to family get togethers. But of course I want to look and I always look nice and pulled together, not sloppy! But I do it for a fraction of the cost of what Q charges!

Re: Easy Pay Mania

[ Edited ]

I don't view easy pay as saving any money.  Why not offer free shipping like so many online companies do?  Also, free returns.  Amazon, Zappos, to name a couple. PLUS I don't have to pay sales tax for these online companies and that includes HSN and EVINE.  Wouldn't you love to know how much QVC makes off shipping?  The fact that they factor in the s & h BEFORE figuring the tax is beyond me.

Easy pay is no deal if the product doesn't work out for you.  I refuse to pay $10 to try something on.  Sorry QVC....easy pay is no VALUE to my pocketbook.

If you look at this debate from the business side, easy pay encourages shoppers to buy more products, buy more expensive products, and direct attention away from the total cost. "Only $8 to get it home - it's almost free!!!"

Free shipping on the other hand, is an expense. If they sell 500,000 products/day at an average of $4 shipping, that's an extra 2 million to the bottom line. Free shipping and returns also encourages shoppers to order products they don't intend to keep: multiple sizes/colors of clothes, cosmetics, etc. This is a huge expense for QVC. They can't resell the cosmetics, can't sell the used clothes as new.

High return shipping costs encourage people to keep things, ending the transaction for Q. Makes business sense.

Of course, we have choices and savvy shoppers will check around the web for the best price.

I think perhaps shipping is an increasing expense as the PO and other shippers raise their costs.

I like an extended easy pay keeping payment under $100 month. To me, this is QVC's strongest point.  Their sales aren't good because their return policies are generous.  People do use items and then return them after a month, and the Q doesn't make money on such transactions.

I have posted this before, but I once received a pr of denim and co jeans with a soiled kleenex in the pocket.  Last time I ordered clothing from QVC!

QVC does have new management since the CEO left.

AS for occasional 5 or 6 EP - I see them fairly often , and I don't even watch QVC all that much anymore. IMO - what QVC desparately needs are some much more professional host -- many more like MBR and Dan Wheeler. So many of the hosts now really irritate me and I change the channel.

Who is the new CEO?  I can't find any new information and google is still listing Mike George.  TIA
