Re: Easter Time at the Back Fence

So how is Marty doing these days? That is an adorable story. These critters can often drive a person insane but cannot imagine life without them.

Went to a Good Friday church service held at one church but sponsored by most all the local churches - regardless of religions. It was great. About 12 pastors there and we were in and out in a couple minutes over an hour - that is the way to do it. Really enjoyed it. Haven't been to a Good Friday service in perhaps 30 years - did not know they still did them here.

Sunday Jeanne and I are headed to Beaumont and need to be there at 7 - we are helping get ready for a Easter breakfast. It will be at 8 - told her that would be fine and someone else could help clean up after the service. LOL.

A tad windy today - there went the hairdo. Now that is a joke in itself.

Yesterday filled the feeders except the Hummer Feeders. This is so weird. Don, my neighbor across the street says he is unindated with Hummers and has always had them. That I do not understand as for eons the Hummers loved it here - lots of flowers and feeders and for the past couple years hardly see them.

Hope all had a great day.

Okay, I am trying to answer Freddie using my phone. Lol. I was 11 or 12 when we had Marty, so I think he crossed the rainbow bridge a long time ago.

Re: Easter Time at the Back Fence

Hello Back Fencers - I'm back to work after a lovely 4 day weekend. It was productive (arborist came out and trimmed the mulberry tree and two spruces), fun (spent the afternoon at my eldest sister's house on Easter), sometimes tense (spent Easter afternoon at my eldest sister's - lol - someone is always on the muscle during a family get together), spontaneous (spotted a 32 inch LG tv on sale at Best Buy and bought it for my middle sister for her birthday), aggravating (contacted AT&T - enuf said - lol), reflective (especially on Good Friday as I thought about Christ's sacrifice) and a little bit relaxing.

Re: Easter Time at the Back Fence

Hi everyone! Easter services were awesome - The Solid Ground Gospel Trio was there - had never heard them before and was so glad I was there. Bought two of their CDs - super good. They originate in Sacramento. Really good. We also had a delicious continental breakfast before the service and since we have a very small place - in a warehouse - the tables were left up and everyone sat there. Actually very nice and most every seat was filled. Had five egg dishes - I took a delicious queshe (sp) florentine that I bought at Fresh & Easy - a store similar to Trader Joe's. It was soooooo good. We also had tons of fruits - almost literally tons of it - rolls and coffee and orange juice. No egg dishes remained but some of the fruit did - they got it at Costco's - really delicious.

Next Sunday will also be a good day. Our new interim pastor will preach and remain there as long as needed - actually he was the senior pastor for 20 plus years at the church I attended here and is outstanding. Have no clue how they talked him out of retirement but he will certainly be able to get things moving again after ---- pulled his shabby thing there. Have a hunch when ---- and his followers find out that this Pastor will now be at our church there will be total shock as all those people came from his original church. Small world isn't it? Going to be some stunned people as I feel there is a message being given by him returning to pastoring. Should be interesting. The pastor that was our regular pastor decided to resign as he felt he was not the person to continuing to lead the church after all the uproar - he will continue as a member however. He too is an excellent preacher. Sad how some things happen.

In a couple minutes need to give Davey his first wake up call. LOL. Takes two but he surprises me sometimes - sometimes he actually gets moving by the first call.

Have a great day everyone. Am leaving some coffee as it is quite chilly and quite damp here. We actually had a little moisture last night.

Re: Easter Time at the Back Fence

Was awakened unceremoniously this morning by the blaring of the tornado siren; got up checked the sky and it was a bit overcast, then checked the local TV stations and saw no warning, then checked the weather channel and it too showed nothing out of the ordnary so just assumed it was simply a 'checking to make sure it was working' siren and went back to bed and to sleep happy to know we weren't going to have to hop into the bathtub since our tornado room is so full of 'stuff' there's no room for actual humans. That being awakend by the siren has happened before and to say it's a bit unnerving is an under statement{#emotions_dlg.scared}

Got a call last week that there had possibly been some fradulent activity on Jim's debit card. He checked online and saw two charges at a Kroger's in GA. It took a few days, but eventually the charges were removed from out account and a new card sent. Too bad these thieves don't expend as much energy doing good things as they do for doing illegal ones{#emotions_dlg.angry}

Friends from NE on their way home from a wedding in Tucson are planning to stop for a visit. It's been several years since we've seen them so we're looking forward to their arrival.

Betty, hope you're having fun in the sun.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Sue

It's been pretty windy around here since late last night. I slept fitfully and think one of two things happened: I wasn't as sound asleep as I thought and could hear the wind, or subconsciously I was afraid of the wind.

At least it's friday and I have two days coming up to catch up on my sleep.

There isn't much going on in my neck of the woods. I'm just waiting out AT&T - they disconnected my DSL when I transferred the home phone to another number and I have no idea when I can order service over the internet and look like a new customer. I think I'll increase my data allowance for my phone this month with Consumer Cellular. I'm not totally without access to the internet, just spoiled by a full sized keyboard and computer monitor.

I'll live Smile. I was a little twitchy when I kicked cable to the curb and that was 2 years ago. I never looked back and don't miss it.

Re: Easter Time at the Back Fence

Good Morning Fencers - I thought I would drop off a quiche in case you wanted a snack. There's coffee and tea too, if you are interested. The weather is finally turning in my neck of the woods and there are parts of my grass that are green. I guess I better buy some new oil for the lawnmower and figure out where the spark plug is. I have been sending my lawnmower out for service for several years now. The mom and pop place that sells and services lawnmower and snowblower equipment is not that far from me. There was always a fee for pick up and drop off (with a trailer) and I never minded paying for it.

What really ticked me off the last two times was that the guy made one trip to pick up the snowblower and lawnmower and charged me 2 transports. When you factor $25 per machine (round trip), I'm out $50 before he even touches it.

I've changed the oil in the snowblower before. I figure if a man can service my lawnmower, it can't be that hard. I'm going to take a crack at it myself and think the trickiest part will be the spark plug. If I can get the blade off the lawnmower, then I will take that in and have him sharpen it. Heck, just putting a new one on will be cheaper (lol).
