This morning we went to breakfast after the farmer's market. It got completely silent when we were walking to the restaurant and mr. henny said it was earthquakey. Funny the signs we look for.

Hi Mom

We're getting reports up here that you are still getting aftershocks. Also photos of damage in stores and homes.

I know how unnerving those aftershocks can be. I hope you and yours are OK and didn't have any damage.

Felt another one several minutes ago. Research shows it was a 4.1 in the same general area. Earthquake or aftershock? A jolt is a jolt.....

Good point. It could be another quake and not an aftershock. It's unnerving, that's for sure.

Hi Noel!!

Yep we are getting a bunch of aftershocks. Really felt the 4.1 a little while ago. Things have settled back down now. No damage except for rattled nerves. Quite a bit of minimal damage near the epicenter. Broken bottles in stores and cracks in homes etc.

Yep, I usually don't feel those aftershocks, but we sure felt that one! we were out on the patio soaking up some sun, and normally outside you don't notice them as much..WRONG!!!

Mom - We saw a quake specialist on TV last night who said all the aftershocks could mean a bigger one is coming. I'm mentioning this for one reason, not to sound like Debby Downer but to offer a couple of suggestions.

We went through the 1989 quake of 6.9 up here, and that included A LOT of horrible aftershocks. I have a couple of pieces in the house that are family antiques that mean a lot to me, especially a mantel clock dated 1864 and a Waterford crystal vase that belonged to my paternal grandmother. I took them down after the first big shake and wedged them between throw pillows up against a wall and something to brace them.

I always keep extra batteries and flashlights around, along with a collection of QVC flameless candles to light the house and halls at night. Also a radio that can be wound up for enough energy to last up to an hour, that way you can continue to get the news.

I also bought an old fashioned phone that goes in a regular phone jack. It will work when a wireless phone will not.

I wish you all the best and hope the aftershocks cease soon.
