so does this mean the little fella survived and it was chick 1 that did not survive. I am laughing about the poo contest. Now they gotta be boys, this sounds like something my grandsons should have taken great delight in. I think the little guy should be named Rory, or Butch. Lol

@Tinkrbl44 Thank you so much for the informative and gripping update. I love the detailed information and appreciate getting to read it. I too loved the detailed poop contest poo by poo analysis. Basic skills are basic skills and must be mastered.

@Jk9 Yes, I appreciated learning about the poop skills. I mean who'd a thunk it? I guess in spite of no pampers for eaglets, they gotta get skills. That was fun learning.

Clown feet/claws day 2 of growth spert on larger eaglet.
This afternoon the smaller chick finally admitting he/she is the submissive in the pecking order (after being wing slapped) while larger sibling was wing flapping around.

@Mz iMac Oh my , look at the size of those feet. Those aren't dainty by any means, lol. Looks like my hands on a bad day. Haha.

Im really kinda of surprised they think #1 is the one that passed. I still think by their size diff it is #1 and #3 in the nest. The larger one seems alot larger, I still think that is #1. Glad to see the weather warm up some, the chicks look well.

I'm wondering that, too.
I'm also wondering if other cameras in the area might have caught Jackie removing the baby and where she took it.
These people know a lot about the Eaglet Development and how Jackie and Shadow are old hands at raising birdies.
These two birds have quite a bond.

@Mz iMac @Tinkrbl44 @SeaGal @Jk9 @Lucky Charm You know I just typed Jackie and Shadow into my search engine. I have duckduckgo. And lots of info came up. Thre is a page on Wikipedia as well. Says Jackie was the largest eaglet born around there, they have been following her since 2018. I haven't read all the info. But it's out there. So much more I wanted to know.

@Tinkrbl44 Many people including FB folks watched it played out. The video and/or still shots are on the FB page the night it happened.
The cameras are for "nest" viewing only not a panoramic view of the eagles neighborhood.
There is a street near their nesting area as well as houses/log cabins. Just about every night I hear a dog barking & I see a steady stream of car lights.

Here's the Eagle Log for 3-21, reporting what happened on the 20th ...

An exciting new chapter has begun at the nest and it seems as though Jackie and Shadow are now settling back into a nice routine. The weather has been a bit warm for them, as they enjoy it cooler, however it's allowing both parents the opportunity to each spend some quality time together with their chicks.
Today began with early morning stretches by Mama Jackie. The two kiddos followed with some little wing stretches of their own. Jackie began the day with a feeding and then headed out for a break as Shadow reported promptly for Daddy duty. He covered his chicks as the sun rose over the lake and then before Jackie got home, he did a feeding of both chicks.
Jackie did some much needed housekeeping and rearranged fluff around the nest bowl. These two little ones are growing quickly and showing us daily all the new fun stuff they are learning. Preening, panting, wingers, big mouths wide open and heads tilted back for crop drops, as well as learning what it's like to have a nest mate 24/7.
Today they were also showing off their big feet! And no one is going hungry in this nest… food is plentiful and still piling up in the overflowing pantry but it's alright ~ they know what they're doing!
Shadow is bringing more fluff to make his two growing chicks as comfy as possible in their cozy bed. He checks in often with Jackie to see when she's ready for a break and he has delivered plenty of food for his amazing family, plus enough extra to have a big neighborhood fish fry!
The chicks look the most content when they have that afternoon quiet time sitting tucked under Mom or Dad, all cuddled up together with their eyes on the big world in front of them. It's hard to tell who loves that time more, the chicks or the parents!
Tonight they had quite the family dinner all together in the nest. Jackie got hit with another little “on target” poop shot (PS) by her littlest squirt (oopsie… sorry Mom!) Hey, it happens! Oh and Shadow tried to feed the kids but was a little too far away, so he ended up feeding his bite of fish to Jackie. Oh well, it's all in the family!
Stay tuned for the next amazing adventures of Jackie, Shadow and their two growing chicks!
