What's the FB group called?

@Tinkrbl44  Big Bear bald Eagles - Jackie & Shadow - FOBBV Official Group

@ILOVEDOGS @spumoni99 @icezeus @shoekitty

From FB:  "During the first feeding session today only two chicks were visible. We cannot see the entire nest bowl because the view remains partially obstructed by snow.

We are observers of nature and do not know the entirety of the current situation.

In nature, things happen that we can’t control. While as emotional beings, we must feel all of our emotions, we are asking that you please have as much understanding for each other as you do for our eagles. Negativity and assumptions do not help the situation. Please be kind with yourself and to each other even when it might seem hard to do.

We will keep you updated as we observe more."

@Mz iMac

This is heartbreaking.  On the left side there are a couple things under the snow.  I hope one of those lumps isn't a baby bird.   Heart

The babies were just fed, but it looked like only two in the nest.

I just read on a newsfeed that one of the eaglets did not survive, it is heartbreaking to read this.

Wow I am so sad to see this this morning.   Smiley Sad

Who knows what could have happened as I doubt they were left alone long enough for it to be preyed on.

I have seen on a nest years ago a chicklet had gotten its claws entangled in a parents underside and was carried away off the nest.

Watching them eat a bit ago I am guessing (just guessing) it was the middle chick, just going by size of these 2. Darn I was looking so forward to watching this trio grow together, you dont see 3 make it very often.

Sorry to all who are enjoying this family.  Heart

UPDATE from FB:

This update is to avoid misinformation, speculation and confusion in the group.
All chicks are most likely still in the clear space in the nest bowl which is quite wide. The camera view of the bottom of the nest bowl is obstructed by the snow berm.
We do not know what’s happening in that area. We will continue to observe and take each moment as it comes just like Jackie and Shadow.

@Mz iMac  Thanks for the message, seems strange as there had been quite a few feedings since the infra red light came on last night, I only spotted 2 going backwards on the cam this am, I guess all we can do is hope for the best but its not looking good. Glad to see the smallest one is a toughie, bonks with the best of them!

But I love love love surprises!

This momma bird sitting in the snow really bothers me.

However .... a little good news ....  while it will be cold tonight, on Saturday the high will be 43 degrees, Sunday 51 degrees and all next week it'll be in the 40s.

By the end of next week, it'll be going into the 50s.  The snow will melt and we will be able to see more.

@Mz iMac @Tinkrbl44 @icezeus    I know there ar exam moderators as well as ornithologists that watch the cam. Do you think if Shadow was hurt, they would send someone to help him?   I know in some situations scientists and such don't get involved with nature, but when some things happen they do. Especially if something as important as apthe survival of the clutch was at stake. But I don't know if they do this for Eagles

@shoekitty  NOPE!  They let nature takes its course.  But, if the injury was caused by a human (bullet or arrow wound), the park rangers will intervene.

Some years ago watching an eagle cam (Pa?) a fledging eagle was kicked out of the nest by its sibling.  The fledgling fluttered down to the ground apparently uninjured.  Something must have broken his fall or he fluttered all the way to safety.

By the time the park rangers got to the site, the mother eagle was feeding the fallen fledgling on a floating log near the river edge.  About a week later according to the rangers, the fledgling flew away on its own.

Re: 🦅 Eagle Cam 🦅

[ Edited ]

While watching our local news today, KTLA 5, Sandy Steers, the executive director of Friends of Big Bear Valley is remaining optimistic and that the 3rd eaglet will emerge, I am hoping so.

@Mz iMac   I just love stories like this. I know with the birds around here if they fall from nest or are fledglings caught , I wait for mama, almost 100% she is on it as soon as I leave. We have taken injured doves and. Jays to wildlife rescue near here.  They treat and release back here
