Re: EZ pay no more

[ Edited ]

It is no ones business if someone prefers to get a paper bill over doing everything online. No one has any right to get on anyones case because they prefer a paper statement. MYOB.

I use easy pay when available and I keep track of what I have pending on EP so I don't exceed my budget. I am not an impulse shopper at all so I don't find that has anything to do with my use of EP. Sometimes I will not want to put something on this month's cc bill so I will place it in my wish list and revisit it after the 20th when my cc closes for that month. Often though it has sold out but c'est la vie.

This is just my opinion, for what it's worth.  I've been shopping with QVC for a long while and have often opted for easy pay.  I'm also a person who hates to owe money in any way, but Q makes it very easy to do the easy pay thing.  I found myself paying for items for months on end and lets face it, some of those purchases are impulse buys that I could have probably done without.  I decided to NOT use the easy pay option and, for me at least, I find myself making far fewer impulsive purchases.  When my statement arrives, I can pay it and I feel better about "cleaning up" a bill that needs to be paid.

@Kardi

Why woud you blame the ez pay when it's obviously you that have low impulse control?

I would guess it's a great tool when used responsibly.   It's got to be a real help for seniors on a fixed income wanting to get a head start on grandchildrens' holiday present, etc.

And, keep in mind, you can pay off any ez pay any time you want.

Your last sentence caught my eye ....  "when my statement arrives" .....  why aren't you "paperless" and doing everything online?  You obviously have access to a computer.

Like it or not, there are millions of us that prefer paper copies of our transactions and do not wish to 'do everything online'. I, for one, get tired of those that feel the need to berate us for preferring that method. As long as there is an option, I will not do my banking and payments online. And when there is no longer that option, I will be doing much less or no business with those companies.

I totally agree.  I prefer to get paper statements as well.  And if I can only get the information online, I print it out.  Trees are a crop and are replenished.  I do not trust that everything online will always be available.  I want my own paper copy for my own records.

Wow ....  what an odd comment.

First of all, I wasn't "berating" ....  and secondly, I wasn't even talking to you.

Most people prefer paperless because it's a plus for the environment, and anyone can print their statement from their online account any time they want.  Most people have a printer.   No need to get your shorts in a knot over this.   Chill.

You were posting on a public forum, so you were indeed talking to me and anyone else who clicks in to read, so I suggest the high horse isn't necessary.

You do certainly seem inclined give orders that maybe you should follow yourself @Tinkrbl44. So Chill, yourself.

High horse?   Seriously?

I was responding to Kardi but if you feel the need to jump in and answer for her, fine.    Knock yourself out.

I remember when easy pay was practically non-existent.  We used to get a birthday card in the mail telling us that we can buy one item of our choosing on easy pay.

I try to pay for everything immediately, but sometimes I have one item on easy pay.  More would get on my nerves.

All so very interesting.  I decided to return after all replies came in and post my conclusion.  My original post was to simply state MY opinion and I said that right out of the gate.  I got tired of making multiple payments over months and having to keep track of them.  For me it was just about bookkeeping.  EZ pay is fine for some, I never said it shouldn't exist.  For those of you who implied I am some crazy impulsive spender, you couldn't be more wrong.  However, I have made impulse purchases as I'm sure we all do at times whether online or in B&M stores.  I agree I could pay the entire bill at any time and I have.  I have the financial means to shop as I please and I consider myself very fortunate.  And yes, I prefer a paper statement.  That is my prerogative.
