Dyson Ball, worth it?

I'm in the market for a vacuum. I friend of mine has also been looking for a new one and she has eyes only for the Dyson Ball. I've heard good things about Dysons but have never owned one. Are they worth the hefty price tag? And I've heard that they can be a bit heavy and cumbersome if you have multiple levels in your house.

If anyone has one, can you provide some pros and cons? What do you love/hate about it? Would you buy it again if you knew what you know now?

Or do any of you ladies have a vacuum that you absolutely swear by? I have hardwood and carpeting, and pets, two levels with carpeted stairs. I was also looking into a Bissel...
