Re: Duck boat sinking

[ Edited ]

Sooo sad, and avoidable, I think.  The organization has no one monitoring weather conditions?  Further,  I wonder if they waited too long to run for the life jackets?  So much lacking in safety precautions in my opinion...

We went on Duck Boat tours in Boston and DC many many years ago.  I remember getting a duck whistle and “quacking” at people along the land part of the tour.  At the time it didn’t seem scary but I wouldn’t go on one now.

So sad that people went on what was to be an enjoyable tour that ended tragically.

I see the duck buses all the time since I'm near the national monument everyday for work.  I would have NEVER expected this to happen, everytime I hear of tour accidents I get a little apprehensive as I love to go on tours.

It makes sense that it should be.

I just heard nine members of one family lost their lives. I can’t imagine having that happen.

They said they were not sure if lifejackets were on the boat as required. I have been on a Duck boat ride once and you were required to wear the lifejacket. I am surprised they took the boat out on the water with the weather as threatening as it was. Such a heartbreaking tragedy.

I’ve been on  them a few times, first time with my kids, they just turned 6, many years ago...we had a great time, but the weather was beautiful...no way should that boat been out in that weather...very poor judgement and now those poor people have paid dearly, as will the owner...life jackets from here on should be mandatory especially for children.

I would never get in any kind of boat without a life jacket...

Tragic. I’ve never been on the one in Branson but we rode the boat in Memphis. Unbelievable it happened. My prayers go out to the families.
