I always use my right foot.

If while taking your driver's test, you used your left foot on the brake, you'd flunk right then and there.

The only thing I use my left foot for is the clutch when I'm driving a manual transmission.

I brake with my right foot. When I started driving an automatic instead of a car with a clutch, I "clutched" the brake in error a few times with my left foot!
Yikes that didn't go over to well.![]()

Right foot for me

In driver's ed was taught to use the right foot; but when I was in the working world - wearing high heels - had an experience of a near accident but my shoe heel was stuck under the pedal. Tried to get my foot out of the shoe to no avail. That's when 'lefty' came to the rescue and it just came natural to me to brake with my left. I know some people do tend to 'ride the brake' but I'm aware tail lights come on and off & causes drivers behind me - to go nuts. My right foot now has no pressure sense on the brake - jerky jerky motion instead of a smooth reduction in speed.
Thanks for your inputs - I find them interesting!
@fthunt, I am right there with you, no pun intended. I am a true lefty in literally everything I do. I am 64 yrs young & have never had an accident so far breaking with my God given right to be a lefty & break with my left foot, lol!

We grew up in the Midwest. I was taught to brake with my right foot. My brother (4 years younger) was taught to brake with his left foot. Go figure. ![]()

Right, unless my shoe gets caught under the pedal. Hard to believe I know but it happened to me too, twice as a matter of fact; once while wearing heels and a 2nd time while wearing flip flops. I purchased a pair of driving moccasins but my feet felt too constricted in that type of enclosed shoe. Still looking around for a perfect driving shoe, one that is not too hot in the summer.

I have always braked with right foot, whether it is an automatic or manual transmission. Left foot is for the clutch pedal when driving a manual transmission.
Years ago, the high/low beam switch was on the floor instead of the steering wheel, so had to use the left foot for that also.
