If ever there was an individual full of themselves it's preachy Maya Angelou. I cannot abide her.

I can honestly say, I don't know any drama queens.

Narcissists, yes.  They are THE WORST.

I guess you could say they are drama queens that were victimized.  They were not responsible for the ills they caused It was always someone else's fault....

I knew that she had died, but no matter, her words of wisdom live on.

As I've gotten old(er), I don't worry nearly as much about what other people think - esp. people I don't really know or know well.

I have had the misfortune of having several drama queens in my life.  Some are no longer in my life because I have stopped dealing with them.  I have a couple still in my life.  I try my hardest to steer the conversations toward other topics and toward more positive things.  And I limit my encounters with them.  I am not so available to them as I once was.

I think I am a drama queen magnet!  I feel part of it is definitely my fault because I am a very supportive person and always want to give encouragement and positivity when at all possible.

My experience with dq's is that they just want to talk and want someone to listen to them - endlessly - and even if they ask your advice - they don't really want it!

@fairydogmother

 I have to be everything to everyone

Then they want advice but refuse to take it.

Boy, I know one of those!  Thankfully, she is not in my life anymore.

I have a BFF all of my life who is a drama queen. I love her dearly, but she has been completely exhausting all of my life. Her best friend good traits overcome her drama queen ones. When I've had enough, I tell her I need time apart and a rest from her. This has always worked.

That sounds more like Oprah than Maya. She tries to copy Maya and it falls flat. I immediately turn the channel if Oprah comes on.

Maya had a thought process unlike most people - artisitic, peace-like, non-judgmental, spiritual, and calm. I think that's why she could rub people the wrong way. I could take only so much at a time.

@Junebug54  I read the Post and I was wondering if those were TV shows. OK.
