I try to avoid them and not get sucked in.  Lucky for me, no close family falls into that category.

I do have one acquaintance that only can seem talk about herself, her life, her job, her house, her kids, her pets, etc.  She is a work acquaintance, not a close friend.  One time, she found out something about me that was years old, and she said, OMG, why didn't you ever tell me?  My quiet answer was, you never asked.  She knows nothing about others, because she is only wrapped up in her own life.  It's kind of sad.  She's not a bad person.......but it can be hard to be around her.

I did have one close friend who was the king of drama.  Every story was overblown.  One time he was telling me a horrific story and I just said oh.  He said what do you mean?  Didn't you hear what I said?  I said honestly, you are always so full of it it isn't worth my energy to determine what is truth and what isn't so I just always assume it is a lie.  He was furious but even he knew he couldn't deny it.

I'm 64 and I'm beyond sweating the small stuff.   There are a couple of drama queens in my world but their tales of woe and the weekly tragedies don't bother me at all.  I listen to them and maybe make a "oh that is so awful" type of comment.  I don't get drawn on and I respect their right to have their own feelings and opinions.   As for Facebook.  I don't actually speak with people I don't know on Facebook.  I don't have Facebook friends.  I have family , friends and extended family who I converse with in closed groups on Facebook.    I do belong to a few closed groups on Facebook.

What would we do without them? Life would be so boring. Look at all the peeps who tune into 90 Day Fiance, The Bachelor, Sister Wives and on and on. It's obvious that many love the drama queens, despite what they may claim.

I know some people enjoy those shows, but I can honestly say I haven't watched one minute of any of those shows or other shows like them. Can't even stand the commercials sometimes.

Have a good night.

My response to drama queens who chronically complain is that things could always be worse! When I hear someone complain because they have to do something, say mow the lawn, I think of the wise words of Maya Angelou. She said somewhere in the world, some poor soul didn't wake up this morning and they would give ANYTHING for the chance to...( mow the lawn).  If you think you have it tough, just look around!

I don't watch them, but they do have a huge following and some of them have been on the tv for years. Soap Operas are another example of the attraction to drama. Not a thing wrong with it either. Just an observation.
