Dr. Phil definitely hit the nail on the head when he suggested the horseplay scenario. I almost thought the girl might crack, too. The boy and girl both know more than they're saying or one is covering up for the other (they are b/f & g/f, so it's not that far fetched). I believe their behavior/reactions/demeanor were rehearsed, trying to sound indignant and taking offense. They were too talkative and friendly prior to the polygraph results being read, and then that suddenly changed to overacted confusion on his part and a defensive, deflecting, attacking posture on hers. Given the trajectory and so forth, there's no way the boy who died shot himself. His parents are showing such grace and mercy, not wanting anyone to be punished, they just want to know so they can have some kind of closure. My heart really goes out to them.

I kind of wanted to smack the girl when she looked up to the heavens at the end to say sarcastically, "Thanks, Jake, for ruining my life"

I wonder if she knew she was being filmed when she said that. Remember when she said to Dr. Phil "this is a TV show, right?" - like the polygraphs were just done for the drama and the results were deliberately shown as "deceptive".....

Did they ever say where the gun was found? Right or left side of Jake? What a botched up investigation that was. The parents had his body exhumed and still they claim it was a suicide? Even after Dr. Wecht said it was impossible?

The girl even tried contorting her body in the way that Dr. Wecht said it would have to have happened to show Dr. Phil that suicide was indeed possible. Even though it was really not possible in any real sense of the word.

I think the other guy, who wasn't on the program, shot Jake accidently. Jack Demarco asked the pointed questions to the 2 of them, and their answers were ""deceptive" because of those questions. Earlier in the show, He had mentioned that the polygraphs that had previously been done, they were not asked 'the right questions' by the polygrapher.

Yes. He said it was as though "they weren't given a test at all". The guy smiled too much and was too arrogant. I truly believe they rehearsed their story and I also wonder about the missing guy. Why wasn't he mentioned? What is HIS story? How are they so sure Jake shot himself when they admitted that they didn't see him do it? It sounds like it would be so easy to "trap" them with some good detective work. I swear, those recordings gave them away. To me, at least. Her voice sounded like "OMG, what did we do"..... She didn't say it - but it sure sounded like it. And he was too quick with the "my friend shot himself in the head".... How would he know that if he didn't see it????

Hmm, I wonder why Dr. Phil didn't call Robyn up to solve this one. Wink
