Re: Donating To Help Animals Abandoned During Hurricane Florence

Seabreeze:  That photo absolutely devasted me.  It just rips my heart into a million pieces how anyone could leave their animals behind and trapped like that OMG!  I hope these people rot in he-- and that these poor innocent dogs/cats get loving homes with people who really love animals. these people should be punished for what they did.  I cannot stop crying for all the horror stories I have been reading.  The one that warmed my heart was the guy carrying his kitten on his shoulder - he is my hero!  If anything (god forbid) made us leave our home I would go down with my dog than ever abandon her.  That is not even an option.  How could people be so cruel and heartless?  Another reason why I prefer animals to people.

I saw this last night on national news ... these dogs rescued in NC ... left in their pen as water levels were around their necks.  The owner(s) should be locked in one of these during the next flood.

@seaBreeze I believe that people that leave their animals behind should have to be penalized. Whether it be prosecuted, fined up the kazoo, I don't know how! In my opinion, they are abusing any animal by leaving them behind. There should be some kind of retribution for these people (I use that word people' very loosely).

Re: Donating To Help Animals Abandoned During Hurricane Florence

I decided to donate to the Petco Foundation like I've done before.  They have a five star rating with Charity Navigator, which is important to me.  They know which humane societies and organizations need help and use their donations to help them.  I feel good about my donation.  They have also helped with the animals abandoned or displaced by the western wildfires.
