There are lots of options for people in need. They can make phone calls, animals can't, they can report if they are being abused, animals can't.  Animals are totally dependent on people for kindness and help. I donate only to animal charities.

Not in other countries.

It astounds me that anyone would put animals over people. I also can't fathom only donating locally as some on this thread have said they do. Doing so is basically only giving to the rich (because of all the resources in the US, the poor here would be considered well off elsewhere).

It astounds me that people don't understand that animals don't have a voice. They are dependent on people to help - NOT too hard to figure out. There is NOTHING wrong with donating LOCALLY.

There are multiple government funded programs to help people, including those in foreign countries. Our taxes support them. Our taxes also fund programs that use animals  in  research, whether we approve or not.

At least I can use my disposal income to fund whatever I wish.

Yes, animals don't have a voice.  They can't ask for help or to be rescued from abusive situations.

Wishing people and pets / animals the best of luck and safety each and every day.

Re: Donating To Charity

[ Edited ]

I don't understand the need for arguing and controversy.

As noted, we can each use our own $$$ to donate anywhere we choose, for whatever cause.

No one here is a more noble donor than anyone else based upon personal choices.

Spend your dollars however you find necessary and desirable.   Unbelievable that some are making it a competition about whose money is better.

People lets just check out the charity to assure your dollars are being wisely used to support the cause......

Someone complained when they brought a donation of food to the Food Bank to support a holiday drive and she said she noticed some of the people receiving donations were driving nicer cars than her older worn out model that gave her cause to pause on her donations.....of course the people could have just lost their job, or found out about a medical condition that now prevents them from working, a spouse left, leaving bills, and no child support...ya never know about the story behind the need....And if there are scammers its funny how "karma" always happens to them....just funny how that seems to work out!! .... Just do your research and try to make your donation go to an organization that truely supports a worthy cause...

And each of us is "wired differently" so a variety of causes gets supported.....interesting how that works out too...
