Don't store Santas get a crash course in dealing with the public?

[ Edited ]

I can't believe someone telling a child  that came to see him, what he should be eating?

It seems a 9 year old vising Santa was told to lay off the fast food. I think it's mean. He isn't the boys Doctor nor his parent

Looking at a picture of the kid, he is overweight, and I think everybody can agree that that isn't healthy, and that the kid could stand to loose a few.

I dealt with the grumpiest Santas in the mall.  I would ask to have the picture taken over, if I didn't see Santa smiling.   The best Santas seemed to be the ones that weren't in the malls, but maybe in local stores downtown.  Those seemed to be the friendliest where I lived in CA.

I like reading the comments section on articles like this.

They usually set the tone....yep.

And it's curious to see what people agree/disagree with.

The honest truth is what rules with this.

Sidenote: Isn't 9 a wee bit old to believe in Santa? I grew up thinking whatever Santa said was golden.  Being 'offended' makes Santa just another dude on the street.

It's not Santas place to say that to a child. It might not be healthy, but the child is fed what he is given.

What if the Santa smokes? Should someone give him a lecture

....and this is why doctors often don't discuss a patient being overweight/obese with the patient; especially a pediatrician.

Should the Santa have said something? No. Is he correct? Yes.

Would you walk up to that kid and tell him he's overweight?   Would you like someone telling you that?

It's not Santa's obligation to tell kids that.

I agree @cherry

Why deliberately try to hurt a child, especially at Christmas?  Does anyone really think the child didn't know he was a large size?  He is most likely teased at school and the last thing he needs is more pain, especially from a stranger who is playing the role of an overweight man.

Children gain weight for several reasons, often it's due to having been molested.
