I seldom go to Dollar General and Family Dollar is out of my way.  But I'm often in Dollar Tree.  If I can get some things from the other stores without going there, even if they are $3 or $5, I won't mind.

I wonder if this is temporary while they get rid of merchandise.  If it's a permanent change for Dollar Tree, I won't like that.

@esmerelda   From the articles I read, it's permanent.  Boooo!

There really are things at Dollar Tree I cant find anywhere else for the price....greeting cards, medicine boxes, sleep masks, gift bags, foil sheets, shoe polish sponges to name a few....I think they will still carry $1 items but I do think their business will suffer if they try and be like Family Dollar or Dollar General.

Excerpts from a May 30th article at  businessinsider.com/dollar-tree-breaks-dollar-promise-more-expensive-products-2019-5?fbclid=IwAR0toZLPXv6YGwcvEOlJ78bnSazmOFmL9mV25QSmNYqUO9_1hK2arkVqqk8

The retailer has been quietly testing its new Dollar Tree Plus! collection — a selection of products that cost more than $1 — at certain stores since the middle of May.

Dollar Tree's business model is built around operating on a low-margin, high-volume basis. Its theory is that with rock-bottom prices, cash-strapped customers are able to buy more.

But in recent months, the company has been noted by analysts as being one of the most vulnerable to tariffs imposed

This is because 40% of Dollar Tree's products are sourced from China, and its unique business model means it does not have much room to absorb these costs without eroding margins.

Intetesting, thanks for posting. Hate to see the changes.
