I bet that they have a lot of fun going in there and looking around, too. 

I don't know if you have been in the Dollar Tree, but they have a really nice toy section if your grandkids like to color or do puzzles.

They have a nice selection of coloring books and jigsaw puzzles there. 

I also like to get office supplies there, like envelopes and pens and mechanical pencils.

Some chains have better consistency than others, I will shop at Family Dollar and Dollar General in my state.

In SoCal most were 99 Cents Only stores. I would browse there from time to time & pick up odds & ends.

On the Central Coast there seem to be all three - 99 cents, Dollar Tree & Dollar General. The one Dollar Tree I went into in SoCal, I left after 3 minutes. Not my thing, that one. But I know all the stores vary widely in size and stock, so I'm sure there are good ones.

Just generally, I don't buy much of what most of them usually have. I went more often to Big Lots, which used to be Pic 'n Save. They were more than a dollar on most things but they had more interesting, more name-branded things that I was interested in.

We like going to the various dollar stores in our area, but the Dollar Tree stores are our favorite, since everything is a dollar there.

With some of the others, not everything is a dollar, like Dollar General or Family Dollar, but they still have dollar items and good deals in there.

I buy gift wrap, tissue paper, and gift bags there all the time.  Someone mentioned the gift wrap being super-thin and easy to tear, but I haven't found that to be the case at all.  I wrapped a whole bunch of things this past weekend, and was amazed at how far my money went and what all that wrapping would have cost elsewhere.

 I really love their gift bags.  A big one that's strong enough to hold heavy items for $1 is a great deal!

I found Reynolds wrap foil at Jet.com for a good price. When you buy Bounty towels check the count on the package. I also like select the size.

I don't agree with you, but not because of male bashing.  I just think you're generalizing too much.

Not all men are the same, just as not all women are the same.  We're all individuals.

(Most of the men I know - both friends & family - definitely do not look for convenient and inexpensive!  All men don't shop the same, and all women don't shop the same either.)
