My sweet furbaby is on his last legs, literally. He has a growth in his mouth that torments him, took him to the vet, they did biopsy, it's not cancer. Vet calls it "granular tissue" so they have him on antibiotics and pain meds. The only benefit is the pain meds help him sleep so the mouth tumor doesn't bother him. When he is awake he claws and paws at it relentlessly, it break my heart to watch him... it is like seizures. He is suffering but the Vet had the nerve to tell me "his mouth doesn't seem to be bothering him" SERIOUSLY? He keep me up at night with his paw thumping, he scratches at it so much he exhausts himself and then sleeps.
My problem is. in all his scratching and pawing, tonight he tore off his dew claw. He was bleeding everywhere. At first I thought it was his mouth until I was able to check him out. I called the Vet Hospitals, but it was after hours and just advice staff unless I bring him in for emergency. They told me to just wrap it and keep it under pressure. He had bled a lot... I managed to get a bandage on him and taped it up... has anyone had a dog tear off their dew claw? He is old and arthritic, so getting him in the car to go to the Vet will cause him pain. I am hoping the pain meds kick in soon and a night of rest will help the paw. Suggestions would be appreciated. If you are a hater, do me a favor and don't reply. TIA
