Hi Friends, Last Wednesday I received the most awful news that my Little Poodle Joey has kidney failure. He is almost ten years old and has been totally healthly until the beginning of last week. I noticed he was not eating and seemed really weak. I took him to the vet because he seemed to have a little cold. His blood work looked fine on Monday. He started to tank more on Tuesday, so Weenesday we vet back to the vet and did blood work again and a chemisty test to check his kidneys, and his blood work looked very bad and his kidneys are failing. They had me rush him to the animal hospital Wed. night and we keep fluids and antibiotics going through Friday. They were very suprised he made it those days. He is now home with me and being checked by the vet every couple of days. I have him eating and drinking again and his blood work is improving a little bit. I know his condition is still critical, but I was wondering if anyone has had a dog make it with kidney failure. I just know that my little fighter will pull through and I will make him comfortable for as long as I can. He is a miracle right now that he pulled out of the spiral we found him going through. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you

My little 12 yr old male yorkie has the same problem and we take him to the vet twice a week for fluids ro help the kidneys stay flushed. He has been doing this for bout 3 months now and he is doing a lot better, He also has a heart mumer and the fluids are a god send becuase he feels so much better and is eating better as well. So u might talk to your vet bout doing that. I hope this helps.
