Dog Question: Catahoula

We are considering adopting a dog soon, and the North Shore Animal league is where we will go. they are close to us. There seems to be a number of mixes there lately , mixed with a Catahoula. We don't have this breed around here, i believe the dogs are coming from the south and west, and i have looked into it, and it seems like a real working type dog. Does anyone here have any PERSONAL experience with them?Thanks!
