Dog Lovers: Breed Discussion

I love dogs. Right now I have a Yorkie, a Maltese, and a Shih Tzu. They are all spayed girls, and they're like sisters. They "play-fight," which is very cute and amusing.

I've never had a Chihuahua. Never had a dachshund. Never had a Scottie.

When I was little, if we had anything it was a cat but I MUCH prefer dogs.

Re: Dog Lovers: Breed Discussion

I've had a total of five Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in the past. Four of them were from Cavalier Rescue. I used to help with Rescue. My last one died last year. They are a wonderfully sweet breed. Right now I just have a Japanese Chin, Nick. He's 13 1/2 years old. He has the funniest personality. He makes me laugh every day. I've had cats in the past too. I love both. My sister has a shih tzu, YorkieonmyPillow. They're very sweet, too. The next breed I'll have will be a french bulldog.

As a child, I had two miniature dachshunds, an English bulldog and a Cocker Spaniel. As an adult, I've had two miniature dachshunds. Love all breeds and I think this is a fun thread!Smile

Re: Dog Lovers: Breed Discussion

When I was little there was a magazine ad for some brand of booze that featured two dogs: a black Scottie and a Westie. I thought they were so cute! I've had a Westie but never had a Scottie - it's difficult to find one that is correct. The few Scotties I've looked at around here are big galoots.

I love terriers.

I also think miniature Schnauzers are cute but I've never had one. I also like Bichon Frises......never had one of those, either.

Re: Dog Lovers: Breed Discussion

We have 3: a golden retriever (11), a basset hound (5) and a husky Malamute (4). We have almost always had a golden through the years of our marriage but I had grown up with bassets and wanted one. The husky-mal is our daughter's but stays with us a lot. I think in the future, we will scale back the number of dogs and probably stick with bassets - they need much less exercise! I love all my babies though!

We have a 10 month old Cavalier King Charles (tri-colored) and he is the best little guy! Such a sweet temperment, cuddle bug, and smart. I had Britany Spaniels growing up, also great family dogs with great dispositions.

I posted above about my Cavaliers. They are little snuggle bugs, so sweet! I know you are enjoying your puppy. I've had two tri-colors, two blenheims and a black and tan.

Re: Dog Lovers: Breed Discussion

We are collie people all the way. Rough collies, not border ones.

Funny story: Once when we were at the vet, a little girl was there with her mom and their sheltie. She came up to our collie (official AKC "extra large" size, BTW) and said, "Your dog looks like my dog but a lot bigger. Is it a sheltie too?"

DH said to her as he invited her to pet our collie (she could have ridden him!), "no, he's sort of a supersize sheltie. He's a collie."

She ran over on the waiting room breed chart ASAP and found the collies. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin} Then she begged her mom for a collie, and her mom said, "I don't think they'll even fit in our car, honey!"
