Dog Cataracts & surgery....

Just wondered if anyone here has gotten the surgery done on a pet? I have a little 8lb ShihTzu that has a cataract in one of her eyes that is really bad & one seems to be forming in the other one. But not near as advanced. I have been thinking about having surgery done on it but just worry that she is so little that it might be dangerous for her & also wonder how successful it is. Thought someone here on the boards might have experienced it. And might could give me some advice. Other than the Cataracts she is pretty healthy. Very active. But lately she is aftaid to go out in the dark @ night & she is starting to bump into things & walls on that side. She will be 12 in July. Any advise or thoughts from other animal mommys would really be appreciated. Thanks
