Shorty, between the problems with your pain clinic, pharmacy and now this, maybe it's time to make some major changes with your medical care.

If your referring doctor thought your condition to be emergency status, the specialists would have accommodated you asap. It is not unusual to wait a month for an initial appointment. I agree with others, that it was only after your records were received that they decided you needed a specific doctor. It was then a matter of accommodating both the doctor's and the patient's scheduling needs.

As my father has had cataract surgery, I do know that there are different lenses that can be used. The generic one is covered but corrective lenses are varying prices. If it means you will no longer need glasses, the cost will balance out.
