Does anyone use chrome or firefox?

I cant play some of my games anymore on internet exlplorer. Someone said to download chrome (is that googles chrome?) OR firefox. Id like to know what you prefer and if you downloaded it for free and from where? (I am a bit hesistant, because I dont need a virus).
