Still lots of credit unions around in fact I'm a member of two. I don't about Christmas Clubs...haven't had one in years.

We've been members of a credit union here for 25 plus years. Love them and their customer service is the best. They also have a Christmas Club available, so they still do exist.
Great way to save money during the year in order to have it ready when we need it for Christmas.

Our bank discontinued them years ago so I adopted the envelope method. Every pay day I put money back for Christmas...same amount every week and then when the end of November comes, I have all the money I (we) need for gift giving. I never go over my budget.

I don't have one but our bank (Local bank) still has them here.
My husbands job used to it but they stopped them about 10 yrs? ago.

When we were kids my brother and I had $1 Christmas Clubs. They must have been for only 50 weeks as I know we received $50. I haven't seen Christmas Clubs in forever.
There are still credit unions here.

I remember my mom doing this back in the sixties. Didn't see the need for it then, and still don't.

I don't "need" to do it. Just sets money apart . . . and adds another "you name it account" for my husband to "fuss" about. It makes saving money a "game" for me. I have my NMCP and NMHP and many other . . . ie. no more house . . no more car payment and "pretend" I'm still making those payments. It really ADDS up when you're not watching so to speak.
Kinda like layaway's . . . they went away like the dinosaur . . . for a good 10 or more years . . . and have made a come back . .. no I don't do them . .. but can see why or how some might NEED them . . . 1) a good hiding place at the store vs at home 2) spread the cost out over time for those that need it.
