Yes. I get them right here at our local stores. They are all over - over 50 in the Buffalo market alone.
In Toronto, they are almost on every street corner. On Bloor Street, there are two diagonally across the street from one another!

There is a lot of cross-border food exchanges between Buffalo & Canada. They also call them tassies.
Before 9/11, we thought nothing of walking over the bridge to eat at the Chinese restaurants in Canada...or to see the Falls from the Canadian side. College kids walked to Canadian bars - they serve 18 year olds. Now with all the Homeland Security issues, it's not as easy.
The very first American Tim Hortons were here too. They used to have butter tarts at the Buffalo locations, but they are just in Canada now.
Yes, tassies is the name! My husband still has a lot of family in Buffalo, Last time we were there he had me driving in circles looking for some Pizza Bella place.
My MIL got me hooked on sponge candy.

Yes...that is out of the way...definitely off the beaten path. Black Rock/Riverside neighborhood.
