He either rings the bell or knocks.

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

They did not used to. We live out in the country. Finally, we installed a security system a few years ago that alerts us when anyone is driving up the driveway and allow us to see who it is. We also have a large metal chest bolted down to the deck. When deliveries arrive, they text us, and we can text them a code to put the package in the chest if we are not home. Then, we can reset the code again. Works great. It was getting to be a pain running into town for packages all the time.

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

Yes, UPS always rings the bell, then the driver is off in a flash.  If it is raining, my box is placed in a clear plastic bag.

i always get an e-mail telling me my package has been delivered too.

A few months ago, UPS delivered a Teeter Hang up while we were away for the weekend and left it on my front stoop.  My neighbor told me it was delivered on Thursday and we didn't get home until Sunday.

It was still there waiting for us.  My neighbor said he was going to store it in his garage for us until we got back, but it was too heavy for him to carry.  my DH and I both had to carry that huge box inside and it was heavy.  I have no idea how that poor UPS man carried that box to my front door from the street. He carried it quite a distance up hill on my lawn.

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

Yes, he does ring my bell.  I've had the same UPS guy for over a year now and he's a nice guy and chat a bit.  At one time, I had to get to the door fast to catch him but after I explained to him that I work from home and often I am on the phone or on my computer when he rings the bell, so I need a minute or two to get to the door, he waits until I get there.  Our UPS drivers don't leave packages, if we don't answer the bell, they take the packages to one of those Access Points and we have to pick them up.  That might be a better option for you now that the holidays are upon us and thieves will be looking for packages on porches.  Go online at Ups.com, set up your account and you can have your packages delivered to an Access Point or anywhere else.  You can also change the date.  My friend does that, she has all of her packages delivered on one day.

Neither the  UPSP or UPS rings or knocks. I wish they would! They used to ring and run, but, no more!

No - never.  I think they should have to ring or knock.  If no one answers, then leave it.  But at least try.  DH and I never hear the delivery person and one of us at least is always home.  I worry about theft but ????

I used to live in an apartment and more than one door posted a small sign asking that all delivery ppl please knock when they drop off a package and used to hear knocks and hear ppl say "Fedex or UPS" as they walk away.  Try it!

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

UPS leaves the packages in my back yard because I have creek that runs in front of my townhouse so it's impossible to drive around to the front. They used to do one sharp rap on my patio door but as far as I know, they don't do that any more. Often I'm not near the patio door when a package (or packages) are delivered, I'll go into the kitchen for something & see the packages on the back stoop.

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

Some drivers do, and some don't.......same as USPS. I always have the tracking number and delivery email from both UPS and USPS....and mostly rely on that. I also have a hearing impairment, so I can't always hear the knock or doorbell ring.

I put a note on the door, asking the driver to leave the packages, because I am home.  I do this if I am downstairs, and close to the door.

Door bell ringing:  UPS, not usually.  FedEx usually.  PO What's a doorbell?
