Any good salesperson gets their customer to buy into the story they are telling. The QVC hosts excel at that as so many consider them authorities or friends.
Exactly! PLUS, while you can find the same items for less money on other retail sites, you DON'T get the friendly, always smiling, attractive personality on the TV selling directly to YOU, talking to YOU like you're their BFF, and sharing personal "stories" of their families, etc., with YOU.
Don't ever underestimate the power of this type of "personal" selling!

Agreed. How many times have callers called in and gushed and said, "I LOVE you, Jane! You're my FAVORITE host!" (Or whoever the host is).

I've been looking for a certain pair of shoes. QVC carries them as does just about everywhere else including on-line only stores. Those shoes are $63.00 at QVC after I add s/h. QVC is offering a 4% rebate on Mr. Rebates.
I can get them elsewhere for a total of $38.49. And the rebate amount with Mr. Rebates is 8%.
This is the norm. Very, very rarely is anything cheaper on QVC if it's sold in retail.
Yesterday Philosophy and Tarte both had 30% off at their websites. Why would you order that stuff from Q?
I ordere my fair share from QVC but it's items you can't find elsewhere because the pricing here just isn't competitive.
You just don't get it. Many of us, probably most QVC shoppers don't CARE if we can find those shoes somewhere else for $11 less. We don't look for cheaper prices because the prices we pay at QVC or Amazon are perfectly okay with us. We haven't the time or the engergy to sit around all day scouting coupons and cheaper prices. We are much more interested in convenience and we prefer to shop with a retailer we know. Life isn't all about money.
Of course "life isn't all about money". But managing money well makes for a much better life with more opportunities and experiences to enjoy and more security. No one needs to "sit around all day" scouting discounts and deals. Nowadays you can do a price comparison quickly and easily on Google or any number of online shopping sites. I simply can't imagine just paying whatever a familiar retailer asks without checking for better buys! Especially when it's demonstrated over and over that you get less for your money there and when it's so quick and easy to shop around.
You are free to overspend all you want, but I'll continue to shop around and use my money as efficiently and wisely as I can -- and share what I learn with others who are interested in saving. I'm happy to be the lady who bought two pairs of shoes for what you spent on one!

So basically, she's stupid for not shopping the same way that you do.
Why do you care so much on how she decides to spend her own money?
So, you find "better deals". Goody for you.
Sometimes people just are not interested in "getting a deal".
And that is their right to do just that. People should not be judged because they don't spend their money in a way that you don't care for.

So, you're implying that people who don't comparison shop, are stupid?
Hey...if one wants to throw their money away and not be economical...go for it...I don't pay your bills.

But, that's just it. Just because one doesn't shop in a way that another deems is "right", does not automatically mean that their way of shopping is wrong.
It smacks of superiority. I'm better than you attitude. And that attitude is always wrong.
It is not for YOU to decide if someone is "throwing their money away".
You would not want someone telling you how you should spend your money would you? So why do it to someone else?

And I am NOT telling anyone how to spend their money. Your money...spend it your way. This is viewpoints and I am saying... I shop around for the best price and/or service. Sometimes that is QVC. If you do not mind paying a higher price...that is your choice.

And not everyone wants to to shop around. And that is their right. And just because they don't want to shop around does not =""throwing money away"".

You can have the last word plaid.

I shop around and get the better price. I rationalize it that I can then buy more stuff.
