I've been looking for a certain pair of shoes. QVC carries them as does just about everywhere else including on-line only stores. Those shoes are $63.00 at QVC after I add s/h. QVC is offering a 4% rebate on Mr. Rebates.
I can get them elsewhere for a total of $38.49. And the rebate amount with Mr. Rebates is 8%.
This is the norm. Very, very rarely is anything cheaper on QVC if it's sold in retail.
Yesterday Philosophy and Tarte both had 30% off at their websites. Why would you order that stuff from Q?
I ordere my fair share from QVC but it's items you can't find elsewhere because the pricing here just isn't competitive.
You just don't get it. Many of us, probably most QVC shoppers don't CARE if we can find those shoes somewhere else for $11 less. We don't look for cheaper prices because the prices we pay at QVC or Amazon are perfectly okay with us. We haven't the time or the engergy to sit around all day scouting coupons and cheaper prices. We are much more interested in convenience and we prefer to shop with a retailer we know. Life isn't all about money.
It took me less than 10 minutes to find those shoes for $25.00 cheaper elsewhere than on QVC.
As I stated, some people just aren't computer savvy enough to do a simple search. No life isn't all about money and I've overspent on things too, I'll admit that but I don't want to get ripped off on a regular basis.

I love doing formal dinner parties that I plan weeks advance. However, I might also throw together a casual supper and extend a last-minute invitation. Sometimes it's as simple as having friends over for dessert and coffee. I also have friends who do the same. We had friends call us just yesterday to see if we were free to come for cocktails and finger foods tomorrow night.
It doesn't really have anything to do with having money or not having money.....some people just like to entertain. Way back in my early married days when I had zero extra income, I still had friends over. Back then, it was a couple bags of chips, some french onion dip and a 2-litre of Pepsi. LOL! Add a deck of cards and a stack of poker chips and that was a good time.
The parties might be a little more refined these days, but I don't see it as a "fantasy" life.....I see it as enjoying life with people I enjoy. Any time you can get together and share a laugh or two is a good day.
I'm with you, CG, I don't see it as a fantasy life, either, and we do go to a pumpkin patch, also.
I don't give as many parties in the last couple of years, but I sure did a few years ago. Now it's good friends over for food or cocktails and appetizers.
IMO the Q tries to reach a broad spectrum of buyers. Maybe not young hipsters, but certainly moms, working women and older women. I know they reach out to men, also. The husband in close friends of ours apparently checks the program guide, he likes to watch the shows that have tools and ladders.

Me either. I take the time or I do not purchase.

DD was out shopping on her lunch hour today. I found a 20% off coupon online for the store where she was and emailed it to her while she was next in line for her purchase, LOL.

I pretty much take a break from watching QVC & other home shopping channels in Nov & Dec. My family & I stopped all that "buy, buy, buy" business years ago. Now it's all about those of us who live near each other getting together to enjoy some home-cooked food & maybe relax over a couple of fun movies.

Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering what your thoughts are.
Many mentioned shut ins. I don't see how their sales pitches focus on shut ins or the elderly "as much" as others.
I will add this. I was thinking later last night that Rick and Dan get it about middle class. I often hear them saying I hope this easy pay helps you out (and words like that). Or they speak of kids going off to college and the expense, etc. etc.
I agree with those who said to compare prices before purchasing. On that topic, I think easy pay helps their sales for those who don't have the money to go out and say get a computer by paying the bill all at once.

BINGO!
They have instant feedback for the hosts that show exactly what line was used that caused spikes in responses. I've read a little bit about how the on-air QVC response systems work. They really have it down to a science and they know exactly what lines/spiels work, and they feed the responses back to the host through their ear-piece during the on-air presentation. They tell them to repeat a certain line as it gets a positive response back from the customers, etc. It's pretty interesting stuff!

So, you're implying that people who don't comparison shop, are stupid?
