The First Lady didn't start the sleeveless trend. It's a fashion statement that she, like millions of other fashionable women adopted.
Jackie Kennedy wore sleeveless dresses all the tme. Maybe MO liked the look

Used to have to keep TV studios quite chilly for the cameras. Don't know if that's still a requirement of the digital tv cameras.

Exactly.
Sleeveless sheath dresses were very popular in the '60s. MO just happens to rock the look better than a lot of people.
This is a little early for the kvetching about TV people wearing sleeveless isn't it? I thought this conversation got going a little further into December. ![]()

Mrs. O did NOT start the trend. I'd suggest you check out other First Ladies, female journalists, actresses and down the line for at least 50 years.

Skin sells~! Watch the evening news anchor ladies (e.g. Megyn Kelly, women on The Five) and certainly the network execs suggest to dress scantily for the men in the audience. Yes, men are buying ladies gift on QVC.
I've heard several show hosts mention the Q studio is freezing all year round.

Some of us just run *HOT* (smile)
I like the thermostat set during winter at 64 degrees and 74 degrees during the summer.
My 85yo Dad says I keep the house like a meat locker. He prefers 76degrees year round.
My 88yo MIL lives in FLA and keeps her thermostat set at 80 degrees winter and summer. When I visit her I just about dry up and die. I do not visit very often.
I think it is chilly in the QVC studio and they do have the hot lights to deal with.

Actually, it was 70 degrees in Philadelphia today. Of course tonight the winds are howling and the temps dropped about 30 or more degrees, but none of them are standing outside in the cold and their toned arms aren't bad either.
