Doctor Charged In Ski Rage Incident

This is a doctor?  A 12 yr old boy fell into a father and his own son while skiing and the father, an  anesthesiologist, allegedly punched the boy in the mouth and hit him with a ski pole.   If this doctor is found guilty of the criminal charges, I hiope the state medical board also takes up the matter of his licensing.

It's going to be interesting to see if he gets the same punishment one of us would get.

Probably not.  Hopefully, this will stay in the news.

Doctors are human beings, imperfect, and possess the same good and bad qualities as everyone else.  I doubt it would be prominent in the news if one of us were the person charged.   If found guilty, I hope he is treated no better and no worse than anyone else.

Well, yes and no @dooBdoo.  Don't they still take a hyppocratic oath?  To me, doctors harming people - esp. intentionally -  are worse than the average person harming people.

Adult human beings should not punch and hit 12 year old kids unless their lives are being threatened.  That is appalling.  Bet he wouldn't have done that to someone bigger and stronger than himself.

Some if them (not all) take an oath of some sort along the way, but it's not really standardized, it's not the old "Hippocratic Oath," and it's not binding... just ceremonial, if it's used at all.  I don't support anyone harming others, of course.  I just get tired of seeing doctors vilified or expected to be perfect people.  (Not saying you are doing so, but it's become sort of the "thing" to do.)

Again, he's been accused, not convicted.  Eta:  we presume innocence, not guilt.   I hope he's treated as any of us would be, that's all.🙂

I just think it is going to be interesting to see if he gets the same trial, etc as any of us would get.

@Annabellethecat66, I'm pretty cynical about our justice system.  In general, no matter what their profession or lack of one, those who have greater financial resources get a different type of "justice" than those with little or no resources.   What's the saying about getting the best justice money can buy?

On the surface this seems like a straighforwarrd case of assault.  What is the doc's 'side'?

@dooBdoo I agree with you.  It's not just about money but also about WHO you know.

I've seen this time and time again.
