Pain is not a part of the aging process. I can't speak for every woman but some time in my early 50s, my feet couldn't take high heels anymore. That upset me because I was a high heel girl since I was 20. My feet would hurt but only when I wore heels. Then the bunions came to stay. So I gave up pointy toe shoes. I can wear a 2 inch heel but I prefer interesting, cute, sparkly flats for dressy occasions. Athletic shoes and flat boots for everyday. Flat sandals for summer. My feet don't hurt at all if I wear the right shoes. I did see an orthopedic specialist about the bunions, I decided not to have surgery for them after he told me that they might come back in time. It sounds like you need shoes with a lot of padding in the soles. Some flats are hard, rigid and thin soled. Yes, they hurt! Not EVERYONE goes through this. I know some women in their 70s who can wear stilettos all day. I think you just have to choose shoes that are kind to your feet.

No, only when my feet are in my 8.5 size ice skates, my shoe size is a size 10.

I don't understand ... how is this possible?
@Tinkrbl44 I assume "gravity"....but you can Google for a better explanation. The net has numerous medical and scientific articles on this subject. di

I am 79 and my feet don't hurt. I seldom wear anything but Sketchers or Buried and when its available I go to a Foot Spa ( highly recommend). Go to Good Feet and get fitted for a shoe insert but if pain continues go to a Podiatrist and see what she recommends.

Maintaining a healthy weight will often lessen or eliminate foot pain. From the National Library of medicine:

I have arthritis all over including my feet. Sometimes days my feet hurt, sometimes they don't. The best shoes for me are the Alegria (sp?) and the Easy Spirit clogs. Just bought my third pair. I've had about 12 pairs of Alegria over the years. I'm talking about their original style with the butterfly on the side.

I had no idea that so many have foot problems. I feel so lucky. I am 80, short and overweight. I wear a size large, but never go without shoes. No slippers or flip flops for me. I have arthritis in my fingers and starting to have a knee problem but not severe. No foot problems at all. I feel that bare feet is no good for you. Your feet need support.
