Re: Do you wish the time change would end?

[ Edited ]

The website NCSL dot ORG has information on this subject, listing which states have pending legislation to change to permanent DST.  And explains why the federal government would have to change the law before any state could do this.

Here's a short paragraph from it (don't want to post a link and violate any forum rules):

"In the last four years, 18 states have enacted legislation or passed resolutions to provide for year-round daylight saving time, if Congress were to allow such a change, and in some cases, if surrounding states enact the same legislation. Because federal law does not currently allow full-time DST, Congress would have to act before states could adopt changes."

As I said in the other thread about this topic. Pick 1 time, I really don't care which, and stick to it. There used to be 24 hours in everyone's day. Then some ×*#$%% decided it needed to be changed!

Why? I can think of as many reasons to keep it the as those that like fooling with clocks twice a year, both internal, and the time of day.

When you "fall back" there are 25. When you "spring forward" there are 23. I say, either get up earlier, or stay up later, if you want more daylight hours. And I have heard the "but I get off work at XYZ time"!

I worked all 3 shifts during my 33 years with the same big company with huge parking lots. Park in daylight and hunt for your car in the super dark parking lots. Numbers or row letters? He!! no, that costs money.

Since we changed our clock last night I have a question. Do you wish we would do away with the time change? I do. I wish they would either pick Standard or Daylight Saving and leave it that way forever.  Just my opinion. What is yours?

OH!  YES!  I DO!!!!!!!!  I do NOT like the time change at all.  Just leave it alone.   What's the matter with them?   Are they afraid of the dark?  The big, bad bogey man gonna get them?  LOL!!!!!

OH, gotta save day light.  Oh, brother!  YES  I agree with you 100%!!!!

YEP, I wish we would just keep it on Standard Time....its ridiuclous here in Texas we dont need Daylight Saving Time ....it doesnt get dark until almost 10PM in the warmer months, and that means it doesnt cool down until then, so our A/Cs keep going full blast for that extra hour of daylight and extreme HEAT which makes a difference in our utility bills ..🌞.🔥🥵  Texas should have followed Arizona's lead with an exception....

Amen to that.

I don't understand your logic.

Changing the clock one hour doesn't change the weather or temptature outside.  It just changes the clock. When it's 100+ degrees outside, it's hot.  Moving your clock ahead or behind isn't going to change a thing.

You would run your AC 24/7 in the hot weather no matter what time the clock says.

Yes, it does by us.  After we changed yesterday, it's light WAY longer now where it was mostly dark at 6:30, it was still light at almost 8:00  yuk......I love fall.....well, just got to keep trundling on....nothing I can do about it.

I just wish TIME would slow down...

My 35 year career in Megacorp went by in 20 minutes, I retired 10 minutes ago ( in 2013) and it's 5 minutes since Y2K ( 22 years ago....)

My Mom passed 1 minute ago ( in 2015) ...

Play with time all you want, an hour longer of daylight, and hour darker in the morning....I just want it to SLOW DOWN!!!!!

Spring is almost here ( march 21)..then wonderful summer......better enjoy it cause winter will be here again in about 30 seconds!!!!

I've been worried about summer approaching since Nov. of last year.  Why do I worry?  I'm in the NY metro area and hurricanes are now, because of climate change a real threat.  One more seige like Hurricane Ida and our home will collapse.  No wonder why there were five major extinctions......

Yes, I wish we would stay on daylight savings time.  I don't mind it being dark in the morning but I really like it being light later at night.

However, I don't find the one hour time change to be disruptive either way as so many seem to do.
