Re: Do you think those are paid actors on the Match.com, Our Time, Eharmony, Christian Singles commercials?

Actors or not, at least Christian Singles seems to have stopped saying "Find God's match for you".

I assume they are actors who were asked to join the service and that made it ethical for them to be put into the commercials.

Those are cooked-up conversations in the script ... and first dates are just not that ha-ha-ha and smiley.

Just my opinion.

I've met some excellent men on dates, but to me that laughing your head off stuff on the first date ... it doesn't ring true. In my exoerience, people look at each other wistfully but with a little doubt, or maybe a lot of doubt, on a first date.

I've been on Match, JDate, Plenty of Fish, OKCupid, Yahoo, Craig's List and now, a new one, the name of which escapes me. Needless to say, I am still single. In fact, not one date went beyond the first date. I can't even say I met a lot of great guys who just weren't for me. I didn't.

I think the whole on-line thing is way overrated, and most guys are looking for a beauty, not a woman who's okay-looking but has depth and character. I'm not sure what men's experience is on these sites, but my gut tells me they have the pick of the litter.

BTW, I have heard of friends of a friend who met their significant other on one of these sites. But I don't think that's typical.

So what's a woman who's 53 and too old for the bar scene to do? {#emotions_dlg.sad}

ETA: I tried to join Eharmony once, but I was rejected after I filled out a VERY long questionnaire and was told that their system doesn't work for everyone. Turns out, I was one of those for whom it doesn't work.

You meet someone while doing things that you like to do.

Or sometimes they just knock on your door one day.

Yes as to those on the commercials being actors. I can't comment on the actual sites. I have not used them. I am sure a lot of folks find some very nice people on them.

I have a friend who has used dating sites, last I heard she hadn't found the one yet. Those ads may have attractive people on them but they are all cringe worthy to me. That older woman who goes on about him saying I love you first is creepy.

The best way to meet someone is to participate in activities you enjoy and hope for the best.

I never gave it any thought as to whether they were actors or not, I just reach for the remote when they come on.

LOL, I agree. And then when she goes on to gush, "And it happened really QUICK". Ew. Made me think that this guy with the "great body" was just looking for anyone his own age.

I met my husband on match.com. We are very happy, married for 4 years. I'll chalk up the insulting posts to ignorance. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it!
