Being a hypocrite and being one who criticizes is not the same thing IMO. It seems some are interchanging the two words. I don't think being a hypocrite has anything to do with self esteem, but if anything, it would be high self esteem/narcissism rather than low. You jump to point out the fault in others, but could never fathom you could be guilty of the same.

I do not think being a hypocrite has anything to do with self esteem. Most hypocrites I've known simply do not care what others think.
