Does anyone else find it ironic that many posts to this thread are about NOT embracing technology......and they are posted on a shopping channel internet forum using a computer? And to beat it all, we're conversing with strangers....lordy mercy. My grandma would have had a conniption. {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Many things are different than they were in our youth.

Things certainly are different, that's for sure. I embrace technology to the extent I want and need to - work for a law firm, all legal documents are e-filed now. Just have no desire to text anybody, that might change, who knows?

My son is here right now, talking to my husband - in person. When he comes inside, I will visit with him, in person. Luckily he lives a mile away, our daughter travels the globe so our main communication with her is by phone or email.

As far as conversing with strangers, many of our foremothers had penpals that some never met but conversed with on paper for decades.

No. Txts replace phone conversations, email replaces formal written correspondence. Apples and oranges.

exactly. I use both. Texting will never replace formal correspondence.

Emails are used predominantly in my and my husband's work environment. I also use emails to communicate with my kids' teachers, coaches, etc. Rarely do I email friends, but I do occasionally get personal emails--definitely not as much as I used to.

I only use texts for personal or informal communication.
