Re: Do you have...

If you love it, Rock on. If anyone else has an issue with your shirt, they don't have to wear it. Keep anything (or anyone) you love and gives you comfort nearby. That feeling is a blessing.

If something gets stained or torn, I get rid of it...but I have cats that love to be in my lap, so at home I'm always wearing a good bit of cat hair! Therefore, what I wear around the house are old cropped pull-on jeans and short sleeved Henley tops in the spring summer, and old full-length pull on jeans and long sleeved Henlys in the fall/ winter. Very comfy, and presentable if someone comes to the door (rare)! The tops are in flattering colors.

My house footwear year-round is a pair of flip flops that I can toss in the shower and spray off if I step in a "pet accident"...I've ruined too many nice pairs of slippers doing that!

Think it depends on your lifestyle.  I have outdoor chore clothes that are truly a sight.  Joke that they are too scummy and old to even wash.  Not ever ashamed to be seen in them.  But some do have to live n the garage.

I don't think I've ever owned or worn anything I would describe as "ratty". I have a few tees and shorts I wear just for cleaning & yard work, but they're not holey, stained, or even that worn looking.

I have big old college sweatshirts that long ago belonged to my then boyfriends.

On a side note for those living with pets, I have a fur removal recommendation. It's called Chom Chom and can be found on Amazon.

Gosh, yes.  I have a lot of ratty clothes.  Just earlier today I put on some and went out and put some wound spray on a horse where she had a scrape on her leg and I wasn't sure how much of a struggle it would be.   It was no problem at all, she was a sweetie - but you never know  !    I have been painting pipe corral for the past two years (white Rustoleum enamel) and no way would I do that in anything but ratty clothes.  Also staining and waterproofing the front and back porch, gardening every single day - always something messy to do.

Love my ratty clothes, have a basket full !

Yes I do!!!

I can't STAND when deodorant gets on sweatshirts that I wear in winter, so I save a few of the older cotton tee shirts that may be too holey to wear alone, but the sleeves protect the sweatshirt material from deodorant. Not all deodorant stains, but some does. I don't care if it gets on those old tee shirts...

Also wear them to bed.

But the OLDEST, rattiest thing I have is a pair of some kind of manmade material leggings....think it's polyester...whatever it is, it's held up like iron.Dark blue.

They are SO old there is no elastic left in the waist band, which must be stretched to over 60 " by now due to thousands of wearings and washings ( NO I was never a 60" waist...they are just SO stretched out!!!)

I use them for mowing, car washing, using bleach to clean anything outside like lawn furniture or siding ( they are well spotted !!) ....or burning leaves and sticks...trimming shrubbish...all outside chores....Definitely when weed whacking...all that grass ******!!!

I use them any time I don't want to risk staining or tearing my "regular" clothes.

They are well spotted from bleach spots....

I hold them up with one of those big black binder clips.

They are cleaned and put on a hanger for the next time like all my clothes.....Always ready for the next mess!!!!

One time,a male friend of mine was staying over unexpectedly and had no "comfy" clothes to change into after dinner, so I gave him these leggings

. He weighs about 210, 6 feet. He pulled them on up his breastbone, and clipped them with the clip.

I spit out everything I was drinking that night whenever I saw him walking towards me from the kitchen. He had them pulled up OVER his tee shirt, up to the breastbone, just to get me to crack up.

And he acted all normal like nothing was wrong with his outfit and why was I crying with laughter on the couch???!?!?!???  "What is the MATTER with you???" he would ask.

Oh yes. Whenever I wear these pants and am mower sweaty,  oily, dirty, bleachy, or smokry from outdoor toiling, SOMEONE will show up unexpectedly....usually someone I've not seen in a while.

They always ACT like they understand, and try not to stare!!!

But it's hard to tell.....

At one time I had a marled green sweater coat that had a large collar that I loved.  I wore it for years and did many repairs on it.  I just couldn't give it up.

One day someone broke into my car and stole it.  It was in the back seat.  That was many years ago, and I still pine away for that sweater.

I just hope whoever took it needed it more than I did.

Sometimes I have a difficult time getting rid of things that hold great memories.

Last week I threw away a picnic basket that was falling apart.  It was repaired many times. It was looking pretty bad, but I continued to use it.  It hurt to part with it.

Sometimes old items bring comfort that something new can't possibly do....at least for me, anyway.

No.  Ditto what @Kachina624 said.  I like wearing pretty newer things, too.

@Carmie

I feel the same and miss clothing I've donated. I don't come to dislike clothing, furniture, artwork... If I liked it in the past, I still like it now.
