I ordered the lock & lock containers  when there was a birthday offer recently.

Wondering what do you put in yours?

Can you put fresh produce in them?

Re: Do you have Lock & Lock?

I store and freeze leftovers , store flour, different sugars, oats, rice, and pasta. I use the pitchers for iced tea and juice. I don't use them for produce.

I love my Lock and Lock, Have had some for years. Left overs, cereal, oatmeal, flour, sugar... no produce though. They travel well for camping, the boat, holidays. Wouldn't and don't use anything else.

I love my egg storage containers.  Don't think I purchased them from QVC though.

Re: Do you have Lock & Lock?

Pretty much everything that I don't vacuum seal goes into L&L.

I do put produce in mine.   For example, carrots  or celery I put one of the  long ones I have that has a rack on the bottom.   One thing about storing produce is that I always make sure that it is completely dry.  Then I put a piece of paper towel on top of the food.

An apple lasts me 10-12 days.  After I've cut it in half and cored it, cut out the top and bottom, I put it into a L&L with a little piece of paper towel.

BTW, each day or so I switch out the pieces of paper towel.  I put the damp one in a designated spot and switch them out.

I put whatever item of produce that comes to mind in there except maybe an onion.  If I only need half an onion I will vac-seal the other half and put it in the refrigerator.  It will stay good for a fair amount of time.

I don't buy the ones with spouts flip-top types of openings in the seal because I'm going for airtight.  I do have a couple such seals but only use them peripherally.  One is a gallon pitcher.  I use that a lot to take water out for the water bowls for the birdies and others.

I could go on, but I'll spare ya!  Smiley Happy

@chickenbutt Fresh produce - yes, works wonders - lettuce - asparagus - stay so fresh in LnL.  I don't pre-wash veggies prior to loadong them in.  Love the crisp lettuce.

Re: Do you have Lock & Lock?

To answer your initial question, no I don't have any.  I bought one set years ago and it was just too bulky and cumbersome for me and too bulky to store.  Took up too much room.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Do you have Lock & Lock?

I've had them since Bob Bowersox started selling them!  I love them!!!  I have more sets than I can count & use them both at home & in our RV.  I use them for leftovers, dry storage in my pantry, freezer & even have them in my craft room but just not produce.  I also have a hard time getting them back when I loan them out.  Lol!

[ Edited ]

I put almost everything in my L& L but not usually fresh produce since it is so airtight. I use for dry cereal, crackers, and other dry things others have mentioned. I have large and small ones so use them to store birdseed, small toy pieces like Barbie shoes and also for hair barrettes, etc. I think my son has a whole set he has collected when I send him home with food in one and he never brings it back. They do take up a lot of space when not being used and not all of them nest even though that is implied in the presentations.
