Our neighbor's cat was very dominant and always fighting and chasing our cats off our property and one day she just ticked me off to no end and so I picked her up and threw her into our swimming pool. Yes, I did. She climbed out on her own with no problem. A year or so later the owner next door passed away and so the cat kept coming over to be fed. She quickly became an indoor cat and we kept her until she passed a few years later. She forgave me by the way and always curled up on my lap.

Just when I think people can't get any crazier! Unless the animal has got into some real mess that needs removing (oil, mud or such), and ours don't because they're indoor cats, they don't need bathing. They do it themselves and they do an excellent job. No one could smell better than them! Now I could see maybe a fat cat that can't reach every place or a very old cat that forgets to do it but ordinarily NO!!

Telling people about trips to outer space is a little crazy, but bathing a cat isn't. The ASPCA even gives tips on how to do it.

Only once, when they were kittens and needed a special shampoo for ear mites.

After that? No. Never. And, they always looked and smelled wonderful...all on their own.

My cat has long fur and loves to roll around the in dirt so he does need to be bathed and have his fur trimmed periodically. I have a groomer do it; oddly, he seems to get much less upset when she grooms him than when I do. And I don't want to The Bad Lady who does Bad Things to him so I let the groomer be the "bad guy".

What a funny and sweet story! Sounds like she owned you before but you didn't know it then.{#emotions_dlg.wub}
