Do we have a turtle expert?

A turtle is laying eggs in my gravel drive way, RIGHT NOW. This happens every year but animals always get the eggs. Once I covered the spot with a plastic bucket but it was so hot that year I think the heat got them. Anything reasonable I can do here? For tonight I'm covering the spot with this big black sled thing deer hunters use. Its about 8 inches high and it will be upside down.
